Is New Order's music seasonal?
I always think Technique is one of those albums for summer bbq's. But its not a winter morning CD, thats a job for Low-Life or Brotherhood.

I think that it can be listened to year around.
I do have a good friend that mostly listens to New Order, during the spring/summer months. She feels that it is happy music and those are the months that she is in her happy mood.

and to answer your question, Steve
I've discovered recently the music is less enjoyabe after gigs. For example, when we came back from Blackpool last year, the very first vinyl J wanted to play was WFTSC and I remember it nearly freaked me out ![]()
Interesting point which seems reasonable, I think their music could be seasonable.
Technique and Republic are great for summer months (either blaring out the car or bedroom window).
Whereas I tend to only listen to Joy Division and (especially) Movement during the cold, depressing, wet months.

So, after you hit him over the head with a frying pan, he still played it anyway?

WFTSC, Technique, Electronic's first album... I definitely listen to those more in summer, whereas Low Life and Joy Division stuff fits better in the darker months... can't say I remember the last time I listened to Brotherhood though :D

I suppose Technique was made in the Summer but as it was released in Janurary I played it to death all through the grim months of Feb and March.
Not seasonal, I'd say.
But Joy Division might be.
It cheers me up so maybe gets aired a bit more during the Winter.
Never really thought about it though. ![]()

Do grim/winter months exist in Colombia? I thought it was near the equator!

ETA [edited to add]: Oh and, I can listen to NO all day, every day. It all depends on the mood I'm in.
That's my answer to that question.
While I have to agree that music is dependent on mood and the seasonal shifts effect moods, I have to disagree that any album is specific to a particular season, think about how long it takes to write an album and how cut off you are form the elements in a studio.
Mr. disco, vanishing point, R&R and finetime are all great summer songs, but the rest of the album is perfect all year round, yes it was recorded in summer, but so was slades merry xmas!
Republic has always seemed christmassy to me because thats when i first heard it
Technique is a summer album
