SHELLSHOCK version: PRETTY IN PINK (soundtrack) VS SUBSTANCE

has anyone notice that the 'SHELLSHOCK' version in PRETTY IN PINK (soundtrack) was different in SUBSTANCE?

Why were these lyrics omitted (in SUBSTANCE)?:

" After all the years, no I can't stand the tearsSomething's gonna happen, shell-shockThe love that comes with painThis wasn't very strange Now I can't hear the sound of shell-shock "

and were replaced by "THAT'S THE WAY (repeatedly)"

Personally and preferably like the track in PRETTY IN PINK!

What do you think? and What were the reason(s)?

The lyrics are on the extended version, it goes on for about 10 minutes and are on neither the Substance or best of versions, probably due to running time constraints.

If you like Shellshock, you'll probably like the extended version.

The extended version is definitely awesome. A good recommendation.

My favourite New Order song.

However, I prefer the Substance edited 12" mix. I don't like the fade out on the Pretty In Pink version, and find that the 12" version simply has too many repeates of the last chorus at the end. The 'Substance' mix was the first version I heard and fell in love with and is just the right length, despite the omission of the final verse.

I thought the lines were: The love that comes with pain destroys the very same...?

Either way, as mentioned, naff lyrics. Great song though - there is no other like it from that era. A unique track.

It's nice to see some love for Shell-Shock. Completely underrated... I'd love to see NO play it live. That would be so weird and unexpected
