So is that it then?

Sorry to bring this up, i'm sure it's being discussed elsewhere but what with Hooky's admission that he and Bernard have decided not to work together it does seem to point to no new order activity for the forseeable future.

I think maybe Bernard has had enough. What do y'all think?

What's your source for that? There's been speculation going around the site ever since the South American shows last November, but I've yet to see anyone give a direct quote that says Hooky and Barney have decided not to work together.

OK, Spanish interview.

I don't think it's the last we've ever heard from them. I don't think they know either. Remember, after the split in '93 it didn't look like they'd work together again and it took five years to get them back together.

Kraftwerk didn't release any new material for 17 years (1986-2003, not counting The Mix which was just a greatest hits).

And Hooky's comments at Laugherne. We have heard all this before though, 1989, 1993 etc. Just wait and see.

But does anyone really think that they're going to come back at 60 with a new album? They said that WFTSC didn't sell that well and with Barneys dislike for touring will they become a Rolling Stones type band?

I'd love to see more NO after the Control soundtrack, but I'm pretty doubtful :\ohwell:

I thought New Order just clarified that they were not splitting up. Where did you get this dodgy information?

Hooky being asked questions in Spain and in Wales... :)

Another interview (from SPIN):

Peter Hook (New Order/Joy Division), Andy Rourke (the Smiths), and Mani (Stone Roses/Primal Scream) have assembled for a new musical project titled Freebase, Billboard.com reports. The trio has tapped an impressive list of guest vocalists for the project, including Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Liam Gallagher (Oasis), Ian Brown (Stone Roses), and Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream). "We're going to get them up on stage as well," Hook told Billboard.com. "It's great to write again. I'm really excited about it." Freebase, yet to land a label contract, have not announced any details regarding recording release dates or performances, but it looks like New Order fans shouldn't expect a new album anytime soon. "Its possible...but I'm not too sure the climate is great for [a New Order album] at the moment," Hook said.

Doesn't take a genius, eh?

They play the bass and there's free of them! Freebass.

I must admit I'm getting more excited about Freebass than a NO album/tour.

No tour until 2008 though, I'm busy 'till then.

It does seem to me that may be the end of it. Bernard's not going to want to tour when he's 55. Would quite like a final gig though with Gillian.

How many times have we had this question asked?

I think everyone on here is holding onto a hope thats never gonna be realised. We were damn lucky they ever returned for Get Ready, never mind WFTSC.

Everyone bangs on about these 7 tracks left over from WFTSC, forgot it - if the 'other' album was gonna happen it would've done so already.

They came back after a lengthy absence, made some new stuff worthy of their past and finally got the credit and awards they deserved.

Control will be the end. And rightly so, because where else is more fitting for them to stop than where they started? I for one hope it is the end, because i'd hate them to turn into the Rolling Stones and ruin what they did before.

Joy Division are New Order are Joy Division.

It just makes sense.

Sadly, I find myself agreeing with this.

I agree too at the end of the day it's up to them whether they want to carry on with NO or not. If it is over then I'll be happy as at least they won't turn into the poor man's The Rolling Stones etc. and we'll have a legacy of music to enjoy that most band's from their era would kill to have! Still who know's these rumours could all be s*** or 100% correct:wink: Cheers!:thumb:

Its going to end some day. I tought 93 was it. We were blessed with 98 and onwards........ I have really enjoyed it.

Maybe Big Al is right. Hooky has decided nuff is enuff barney ya twat! We have always known Barney is up his own arse. That why we like New Order's dynamic, with Hooky always there trying to keep it all together.

Such a shame if it is the end.

Barney, head out of arse for fucks sake!!!

:bag:

soorry, i have had a glass of wine by the way...

I think this is the end...... however it would be nice for some sort of confirmation from the band.

Wasn't Hooky's comments at Laugherne on the 1st April - an April fool possibly? Cheers!:thumb:

"The climate isn't right for a new New Order album" - Think you all are reading too much into this. Isn't it typical music marketing that you release something, go away for a while and come back to release something again? You don't want to oversaturate the market and make people sick of you. That's all I get from that statement.

New Order are a band famous for making flippant comments, I wouldn't take what they say seriously.

Funny to see the avalanche rolling down all hills again. Guess Hooky's sitting in his armchair right now, looking at this thread and having a big, big laugh at it... :ignore:

Here we go again. I now refuse to believe any news about New Order until the next album is released and the tour announced. :D

Au revoir rather than Adios... Although the creeping years make the latter more likely...
