From November 1979 apparently.

Found this while looking for the Dangerous aces gig my friends played on Thursday. Never heard it before so thought some of you might like to hear it.

November 1979 Castle Pub / Northern Lights Ian Curtis interview, Manchester

Northern Lights was an early cassette magazine, possibly from Bury, and the interview presumably took place in The Castle pub.

The sound quality is not very good - even on the original. This has been released on the semi-legal Ian Curtis Interview 7" and 12" picture discs. It also appears on the Under Review DVD - with subtitles.

That's the one, never been a Joy Division fan so had never stumbled across it before.

Feel free to delete my thread as 'subject covered a zillion times before silliness'

"Never been a Joy Division fan"?

I'll delete you from the face of the earth for that admission.

Ah yes, the Northern Lights (Buzzcocks label) compilation - finally managed to grab a copy of that last year (rare as hen's teeth) - not for the Ian Curtis interview, but for the Biting Tongues (Graham Massey) tracks on there...

There's also interviews with the guys from Ikon as well on there, btw.

As soon as I get a spare moment, I'm going to transfer the tape to my computer (using the new PlusDrive tape deck) - the quality isn't great (as that article suggests)! :p

Images of the cassette are here, btw:

It's also on that "Under Review" DVD, and a picture disc 7" single - have no idea whether the quality is good on either of them, as I haven't resorted to buying either...?
