...has quite an overlooked bassline, quite nice work. Is that a stringer he's using for the sound? Any other opinions?

No, it's a bass guitar he's using. He often does!

I love this song. I know alot of people dislike it but Im not sure why. I love all of it. The cracking bassline, the guitar riff, the acoustic guitar solo, the commanding synth lines towards the end and Barneys yearning vocals.

Not sure what a stringer is but maybe he should see the quacks about it:\ohwell:

I meant a 6-stringer. :evil4:

The only song on Technique I can't stand. After All The Way and Love Less, it comes across as bland and the music doesn't help by being pedestrian.

But Run is the next song on the tracklisting, so it's quickly forgotten.:thumb:

Guessed as much. The answer is no though, it can be played on a 4-string. You'd need to be as good as Hooky is to play it though, as there is one hell of a leap up the fretboard at one stage (been practising it myself recently, badly).

Not a bad track, the weakest on Technique IMO,but it does have a cracking bassline,& great playing to boot:thumb:

Agree about the weakest, but it's also well sequenced in the track listing, thus making it important to the flow of the album. Here here for Technique!

Guilty Partner....I love that song

anyone has it live in mp3??

Love Less is by far the weakest song on Technique, almost completely devoid of character musically or lyrically. Guilty Partner suffers from some of the same lyrical deficiencies (a warning of what was to come, I suppose), but the vocal performance is nice and the composition is inventive. Since I bought Technique on vinyl originally, it made a kind of satisfying end to side 1, and I still kind of hear it that way when I listen now on CD.

I love Guilty Partner, it is second only to Dream Attack on this album for me. I don't mind the lyrics, the bassline is fantastic, and it is quintessential New Order to me.

I love this song too. I think I listed it as their second most underrated song in the "most underrated NO song" thread.

The bass-line isn't very hard to play actually... until that bit at the end of the chorus where you have to swoop up and down in an instant.

Not my favourite song off Technique, one of the few I'm tempted to skip. Don't like the vocals...

Still an average song if you ask me!:uhoh:

Although a great live version.

Any chance that someone might put up the entire 98 show that that Guilty partner clip is from? Id love to hear it. Didnt they do Fine Time at that show?

I think the lyrics to Guilty Partner and Love Less are great.

"I'm not some kind of foolish lover...I couldn't take this from another" is said with such relish and anger it's difficult to let it wash over you. The live versions of it also have that anger.

Certainly the almost flamenco guitar solo and the building string lines towards the end make it a superb track but there's not a weak song on Technique. I was listening to it again yesterday at top whack in the car and it still sounds awesome. Whether it is more awesome than (my all-time fave) Low-Life is a moot point though...

It's deceptively easy, try again and report to me first thing monday morning....

I listened to it a lot a few years ago, it's a great song. Loveless is probably the weakest track on the album as it seems to create a lull if the album is listened to sequentially, but as Technique is pretty much musical perfection to me...
