Bands that keep usingPeter Hook basslines

I've just encountered a band on YouTube who have copied almost note by note, Hook's bassline on Joy Division's "She's Lost COntrol." If anyone has any contact with the band, please let him know that this kind of thing is still happenning. The band does not acknowledge J.D. anywhere un their wesite. I find it horrible that this keeps happening but it is not up to me to judge. I am happy Joy Division's influence is still palpable in today's music scene.

A band played at my old schools Talent show that had "Transmission" written all over it. The bass line sounded the same, except played 5 tones down (On the E string) and the guitar chords sound pretty similiar with a sort of stop and start mentallity.

Well, obviously they've been influenced heavily but this is outright theft! The bassline is the freaking same except two notes!!!! It's theft.

Buggers are all missing the point anyway.

They should not be stealing his notes, they should be expanding his style. Just as slap bass was created, and tap bass and all sorts of variations on "proper" playing once did not exist, so it's about time bassplayers started using their planks as psuedo-lead instruments.

Hooky has his own highly distinctive tonality, but there's light years of room within "playing melodicly in the high registers" without actually sounding exactly like Hooky.

Time it was accepted as a valid style rather than just "ewwww, stop playing like that cock from New Order man!"

That's so fucking influenced by Hooky, at least they could include him in the credits.

Yes, She Wants Revenge has the same feel as JD including the sound of the bass and the singer's voice but I don't think they have a song with almost the same bass notes as JD's songs as this Maldroid group has. I would've noticed. It's ok to be influenced by someone but to copy them outright is wrong. If the bassline for "She's Lost Control" is published and copyrighted somewhere, then Peter Hook and the old members of JD have a legal case against this band. I don't want to destroy someone's career, I just want them to acknowledge their influences and pay due respect. That's all I care about. Thanks
