Since this is (allegedly!) the end...

Has anyone dug out WFTSC?

Must say it's been my most played album in the last two weeks. Before, I only bothered with certain tracks on it but the likes of Told You So, Morning Night and Day and even Dracula's Castle have risen in my estimation.

Still think Working Overtime sticks out like a prick at a fanny convention, but musically it's really good. Nice to hear some barroom boogie piano in a NO track!

Although there was a lot of arguments on here about Jetstream, I have to confess that I love it. Only problem with it was the video, where NO looked awfully old and out of place with the pink CGI, while Ana Matronic hogged the limelight.

Anyone else?

Agreein' with you there, buddy. While I do have my favorites [Turn, Krafty, Working Overtime, GIAUE], it's for me one of those albums I can listen to from beginning to end and never tire of. I love that album.

I'm still only listening to Guilt, WFTSC, Turn, Who's Joe and Hey Now What You Doing, ought to put the rest on really.

Guilt is the only track that really blew me away. Turn was great live.

I normally have my ipod connected to my car stereo, so have access to everything and as i typically do about 500 - 1000 miles a week, everything gets a fair share, but im getting a new car on Friday, so have had to put the factory stereo back in. Only NO cd in there right now is Low Life.

Love it, actually it is the only album I don't skip a track on.

WFTSC - with the exception of Working Overtime which is alright but doesn't quite fit with the dancier feel of rest of the CD it is an excellent piece of work from the lads! I played it for months after it was released in '05 and IMO they couldn't have done better! Cheers!

Listened to it at the weekend... Still have no time for I Told You So... Dracula's Castle, Morning, Night & Day are still so-so... BUT I am willing to concede that GIAUE isn't as bad s I thought, and I reckon with time, I might actually come to like it... The first four tracks and Turn are still easily the best, Krafty, WFTSC and Turn being well up there in a best of NO list... If it is the last thing we hear from them, then Working Overtime isn't a bad finale actually - not at all what you would expect and completely unrepresentative (as well as being pretty lame) - and as such typical NO... After Republic and thinking that was the end, I always thought Avalanche was a nice outro and it still makes regular appearances as the final track on compilations and playlists chez Snorri...

Not played it for ages,& when I do,I find my attention waning after half way.Who's Joe is a good start,then thankfully not long 'til WFTSC & Krafty,after that I get a bit bored,but I do think the bassline to Dracula's Castle is rather good,even after everyone slagging the track off,it's not bad.The title is fookin' shite tho'.... :\ohwell:

The ones i liked to start with are the ones i dont bother with now. Krafty, Jetstream etc.

I like Working Overtime, and i like the way they snuck in the homage to Marshall Jefferson. Did anyone even pick up on that?

Its a good album but some of those lyrics...

Luckily classics like the title track, turn and who's joe mean its still an admirable effort

I like all tracks on WFTSC except for I Told You So and Working Overtime. Sad that NO may end; we may never hear those leftover tracks that were supposed to be the next album.

1. Who does the deep-voiced "All right" bit on it? Is it some sampled bit from Caribbean radio?

2. Does anyone else hear echoes of Happy Mondays in the outro? The guitars remind me of "Wrote for Luck".

3. Where is "the old Westside"?

I hear the love for "Working Overtime" here too. My appreciation for that joint has grown and grown.

Also still adore the title track. A classic.

And "Hey Now Road to Ruin" has worked its way up the Parky ladder - love that track now.

"Guilt" is the track I can't stay with. I put it on, and my attention fades. Maybe the Mac remix is better, but haven't heard it.

Hey, New Order-could you stick around for one more year and tour the United States for those of us who haven't seen you yet? I really love Joy Division/New Order music and was born a bit late, though 1989 was when I first heard NO songs and late 90's for JD songs. Hell, this is funny like who's going to read this other than the pope and everyone else. One could hope. And so like John Lennon said...the Dream is Over.

1. think it's a Caribbean sample, yes
2. defo Wrote for Luck, thought that first time I heard it. nice touch

A load of us ended up back at the mansion tother week and me mate actually asked me to put jetstream ont stereo as it was his fave!
