Greatest NOOL moment.

NOOL is getting old and is getting back to its regular activity these days, but now it's the time to nominate (and say why) a moment in its history you prefer.

Could be anything really, a meet-up you had with other people, a gig, a thread, a new member, anything!

So go ahead ;) We'll do a poll with the ones people prefer to find the "ultimate" one ;)

My first time posting in the ORIGINAL Shed thread, which sadly got recently deleted because of unfortunate circumstances...

...among other classic moments in the time I've been here [since January].

Barcelona last year was a high point, no question.

Social wise - Hyde Park

Music wise - getting in there early with the pre-release buzz here surrounding WFTSC.

The NOOL event "Blue Saturday" in London, where I met NewOrder fans from all over the world. The place where short handshakes were given to Nic, Tim, Shug, Jeb of the U.S. and A., some members of the German Order, and surely I forgot many others to mention... :shades:

...and of course my trip to OZ. where I met the one and only NOOLigan and Gillian Fanciers Association...

cheers,

Fcuk me. Far too many to mention......but :D

The first few piss ups (in between 01 & 02) back in the old days, Liv, Kezbah, Tim, Muffy, Major, Jarvo, JG, Johan Scott, G, Hac, Mickey Way, Rocket, ATR, Marty Gray, DoN, Mike Garrity, Fradders.

Mine and DoN's trip to New York & Seattle for Celtic v Man Utd in 03 meeting WenOrder, Jeff, Green, Brian & Rina, Churchy, AgentWood.

The second wave of piss ups in 02 & 05 with far too many people to mention, special shouts to the Finsbury 02 gig with Jeff fell down the stairs and losing his passport after I got him pissed on extra strength German lager in a pub JG had reserved for us, the same gig which saw Rocket first appear and scare us all.

The trips to Barca two years in a row (and Madrid), with stories that "What goes on on tour stays on tour" Special shouts to G, Ally, Nick King (my fag partner) Mad Colin Torr, Milky's, Pompey Order and Gordy, Greg, Ness, Leggy D, Ren.

Surviving 3 days in Chorley with Rocket Mick.

All the other gigs in '05 and '06 the Gretton tribute night - GaryMac and Ourkid, Manics, Jem, German Order, Austrian Order, Geri and the Newcastle Order, Chris Nash, Old Blue, True Blue, SPOTNIC, Fats, Darlo Order, Salford Order, Ian Passingham, Re-Order and Digital lads, Mrs Disco, Jeff The Chef......fuck it, just about everyone on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being at the UK Hall Of Fame was fookin great an all, as was being at the Manchester aftershow in '05 and getting a pic with Barney. Hooky's Dj set at G's bar in '04 with a 3 hour lock in and Hooky answering all our drunken questions.

The Corby Order have made many friends and hope that a few of you can make Re-Order in August

Aww...

I know I've had a few more fun moments [like that one time I was in the chat with a bunch of insane loons, and someone with the screenname BARNEY_IS_HERE came in, and all madness broke loose fookin' nuts in there!], but I think all the friends I've made so far as well as all the spats and 'sunny haters' [self-inflicted OUCH!] are probably the best thing about NOOL that I can recall.

So yeah, I'll add an AMEN to what you said, Shug! Uh-huh.

Yeh that was a good one. :)

I have to add finding NOOL in the first place and getting to know all the characters here, some of which have become good friends.

I really appreciate being able to build on my collection from contributions of some generous souls here as well.

Actually getting to 'officially' meet faces on here that i had seen/bumped/stumbled into over the last decade... Alex, Al, Rocket,JG - lads i can distinctly remember cracking onto and discussing gigs/momentoes etc..as far back as Reading/Dublin 93'. Even John Sludden & Shuglet, Gary Pompey, Mickey Way pre- Fins.Pk.(not the tent) although that was my 'first time' Some lads i recognized but never cracked onto but eventually did 'meet' @ Hyde Pk - namely JT, Leggy D

Good people & good times

If I had to pick just one moment, it would be Manchester 2005. Wembley/NOOL Day/Wolves and the South American tour were great too, but I had a wonderful time at the pub in MCR and took some stunning pictures at the gig too.

Surprisingly the pictures are still showing on this thread. I'm really proud of myself for taking the greatest picture of Frads EVER.

Just being on the site before WFTSC was released was exciting. I'd never had that anticipation for a new album before. I remember hearing Krafty on the radio for the first time.

I'm not really able to get to the gigs, so it's exciting reading about them and hearing reports from those who went - hearing that an unexpected song was played like Warsaw or 24 Hours is always cool.

My first (and only I suppose) NO gig was class - I didn't meet anyone on here but just to see the band was something I never thought I'd be able to do.

The only time I've met people off NOOL was Digital's gig in Kilburn... must have been two summers back now. Had a great time, the band (especially Tim) really helped make it a great night. Met a few people from here (I sat with Marc) and had a good time - hopefully I'll get a chance to see Digital or Re:order this summer when I'm there.

For me a toss-up between Blue Saturday, which was just fcuking great to be part of,drinking Tim's Cobra beer rider, meeting Hooky and Pottsy again, and well sharing DJ duties with the Hookmeister himself!

And the other got to be Liverpool.Even though numpties organised a NO gig with seating,it was just a brilliant day, from early afternoon piss-up in the Slaughterhouse right up to going back to the hotel and gatecrashing two wedding receptions with Master King. Oh and not forgetting Hooky laying into the bouncers! Just a classic moment.

A big hello to everyone here,I still say best website on the planet and the best friends on the planet.Hope it will well outlive New Order.

Edited To Add: OMG!! And we can't forget our beloved Shed! My nickname for it: The NOOL Asylum.

The Chatroom, which I nicknamed the Dry Hacienda Bar [still do too!]. Crazy place to play wanna-be DJ. I'll get it eventually.

And, Pope Happycat. :evil4:

Don't think NOOL can be summed up in a moment as its always a great place to spend a few moments of the day.

Wish I could mention gigs like others here......maybe one day

Howzabout the rally the first time when many people refused to let NOOL die? A lot of excellent stuff may not have happened if that prescient move had not occurred.

The stories of all the meet-ups always bring a smile to my face, still will always regret a little bit not being at Hyde Park, Finsbury, or Blue Saturday, but the details have been so wonderfully filled in that that sensation soon passes.

Wembley and Blue Saturday, the events, the people and the anticipation... Neither day disappointed... Especially getting loads of kisses as a tribute to my sig... Although Diggy really didn't need to... :nono: Corby pencilled in for August, so hoping that'll be a good 'un, too... :thumb:

Being called "mostly a cunt" by Martin a couple of years ago.

In all seriousness, although in my book not technically a "NOOL" moment, the pre match at Brixton in 05 was immense.

Has it happened yet? I hope not.

Not strictly a "NOOL moment" but it's only fair to mention the original set of NO sites between 1996-2000 even if it was a quiet time for the band themselves.

The Ceremony mailing-list in particular was one of the original places to talk to other fans on the web. Some fond memories of that list... exclusive bits of news, discovering MP3s for the first time, the "faster" Brutal leaking out, the 98 Peel Session, no shed etc.

Some of the other sites that predated NOOL:

The Pop Group With A Dark Past (Antoine Barbet & Dave Stephenson) Music4Pleasure (Harry Nisula) A N E W O R D E R W E B P A G E (James Shum) Ceremony Fac33 mailing-list (Warren Lapham) Procession ('Zman') Temptation (become NOOL)

While NOOL is obviously the place to be, the variation that was around in them days is missed a bit.

For me the highlight was definitely the meeting before the Hyde Park gig. Thankfully I had met Tim before so he was able to point out some faces and I met some really nice people. The gig wasn't too bad either :)

I'll have to take everyone's word for it that the pre-Hyde Park gathering was a good one, my memory only goes so far that day! I do recall meeting a lot of people, many for the first time, and that Jarvo saved me from getting into too big a ruck with security at the plastic beer bar at Hyde Park when they tried to rip me off with my change. Can't remember the gig at all, and still don't know what happened after me and Jim Reilly Jim Reilly left the park, no recollection of how or if I got home!
