Can someone refresh my memory when "The Wake" toured with New Order? was it 86 or 87. I remember them supporting NO and what a quality live band they were.

Never saw them supporting at any of the gigs i went to 86-87 , sorry.Actually I was wondering the other day who that band i saw supporting them at Sheffield Roxy June 87 were.Remember there was quite a few of them and there was a female singer which made me think it was Chumbuwamba

I think they supported at Bradford 84. Long time ago though so can't be sure.
I do remember the brilliant three part seque from NO though that night! EGG>Temptation>586.

I think I missed this support act @ Roxy.
However on to thread..The Wake were more liable to be 84/85..about the same time as Stockholm Monsters got involved.
First support slot was Bristol '82 and they were there in '83 and '86 in Glasgow. They did a lot more during those years too.
If memory serves me correctly, The Wake even organised/promoted the Scottish 83 tour, as well as being support.

Your probably correct robert to 86, as I defo saw them as the support band at the Glasgow Barrowlands. so who was the support band in 87 at the Barrowlandss lol

Must have been 85 then, cos it was defiantly the barras and support was The Wake & The Royal Family & The Poor: never saw NO at Tiffanys, saw the Bunnymen there 3 times, (but that Venue changed it's name every week at one time).
Minds made up guys, it was defo 86 at the Barrars as I never saw them in 85 at the barras, got that show on cd though, thanks to me ole fruit cake wee shug, sounds a cracker.

The Wake were really good at the '83 Tiffany's gig. I actually thought they were better than NO that night.
The Royal family & The Poor on the other hand, were without doubt the worst band I've ever seen live and believe me I've seen some terrible bands.
The Wake also supported at Edinburgh Feb 85. Can't say I was overly impressed, but that was maybe down to hot anticipation and beer consumption prior to my first NO gig.

I thought the support on this gig was 'Life' not 'The Wake', I seem to remember them being pretty okay. Unless it was another gig at Bradford St. George's Hall I remember being at... could be.

Yes, it was Life on the three end of Feb/start of March 86 dates, then Chat Show in Oxford. Can't remember who did Poole or Brighton though.
