when will control be released in u.s.?

i cant find any info on the release date for control in the u.s. it better be played here, or else im flying to europe just to see it... anyone know anything?

well i'm sure all the 'hip' cities like san fran,austin, and new york will get it. It will probably mirror 24pp in terms of theaters where it is played, and i remember seeing at a number of indie theaters.

THere won't be an answer to that question until it's picked up by an U.S> distributor. Which it will, most definately.

Only major cities though as it will only be marketable to the urban hipster demographic.

It played in mainstream cinemas in Boston.

Nobody has picked up the distribution rights in the States yet, but I'm willing to bet that we will hear something soon, now that Cannes has screened it. You will probably be going to one of those highbrow places to see it, which is good, as it will keep most of the local idiots out of the theater. 24 HPP was only shown at one place in Dallas, and I'm willing to wager the Angelika will be the only place showing Control up there as well. It doesn't even come out for another 3 or 4 months in Europe, right?

Buyers take Control of Becker’s hot Corbijn title Wendy Mitchell in Cannes 22 May 2007 07:21

Becker International has closed several deals for Anton Corbijn’s hot Director’s Fortnight opener Control. The new territories sold are Japan (Style Jam), Scandinavia (Atlanta), Brazil (Daylight), Poland (Gutek), Croatia (Continental Films), and Russia (Maywin Media).

US negotiations are ongoing.

The existing distributors already in place for the Ian Curtis biopic are the UK (Momentum), France (La Fabrique de Films), Benelux (Paradiso), Portugal (LNK), Greece (Art Free) and Australia/New Zealand (Dendy).

“We are currently fielding offers in the remaning territories ahead of today’s market screening,” said Becker’s head of sales Iain Canning.

Many buyers were shut out of the official screenings of Control, but there is a final market screening today at 4 pm at Star.
