According to Peter Hook and French magazineLes Inrockuptibles New Order will play a one-off gig on the 17th of July, precisely where the Hacienda was built! :eek3: :eek3:

This show is meant to be part of the Haçienda 25 : The Exhibition Fac 491.

EDIT: just noticed the link, silly sod

Interesting stuff, could this be the one final gig?

They're playing in a block of flats?

Hold your horses on this, please let's not get everyone carried away with optimism. Let's see what we can find out today and then have a definitive answer later on.

Probably - had a heart attack when I first saw the date, and thought it clashed with Summercase, then realised it's the day after we get back! :smoking:

Here's a transcription:

Although P. Hook said that the band had split up, New Order will be playing live in Manchester on the 17th of July. This show will take place on the exact location of the Hacienda, which was destroyed earlier this year, as part of an exhibition: Haçienda 25 : fac 491.You will have the opportunity on that occasion to see rare items lent by the Hacienda's benefactors T. Wilson and B. Kelly, as well as previously unseen live videos! This show will be held until February the 17th.

I have to say that, to my knowledge, les Inrocks is a pretty reliable source and that, in this week's issue, they have a very brief interview of Barney talking about Control. Is it the source of this blasting information???

NME picked it up 2 days ago, no mention of them actually performing though.

Just says they'll "feature" and will be "contributing unique items".

Tim's right, probably not a good idea to get any hopes up.

Erm, isn't the exact location of the Hacienda a block of privately-owned flats? :confused2:

Hopefully it is true; but I would perfer someone else to confirm that this is happening before I go out and look for plane tickets so that I can finally see them in concert.

From Cerysmatic:

Haçienda 25: The Exhibition - FAC 491 An exhibition called Haçienda 25: The Exhibition - FAC 491, about the legendary club FAC 51 The Haçienda which would have been 25 years old on 21 May, starts in central Manchester on 17 July. The exhibition, which is being coordinated by Urbis, will feature artefacts and contributions from many people including New Order, Tony Wilson and Haçienda designer Ben Kelly.Highlights include a complete set of birthday posters and the original '51' doors.

This is what's happening on the 17th July, the French mag got it wrong.

Thank fook for that, in a way!

All we need now is this to get added to the news page as confirmation that there is no gig, and everything can return to normal.

Until the next rumour at least.

All the previous posts on this page are pulling the piss out of all the half-arsed people who are not taking the time to read any other threads, or even news items on the neworderonline home page - presumably such as yourself (as you seem to think that NO could have played a gig this week) - I don't mean to offend you, but take time to look around the site - the information is all there

Was in town earlier

there was a party of sorts at Urbis though and I believe Ian Brown was invited, as was Wilson and Hooky
