Yeah, dream on....it's never gonna happen unless you get another dodgy Russian linesman and a crooked crossbar.

At least we usually qualify these days! :evil4:

Yup. If there was a trophy for just qualifying you guys would be laughing.

And if there was a trophy for qualifying, actually believing that you've got a cat's chance of winning it and then being shown up as the third-rate footballing nation you are by getting f**ed out in the Quarter Finals (again) you guys would have been given the trophy to keep by now.

just to interrupt the post whoring from the scotch people here, & as someone who genuinely doesn't care how the engerlish footy team gets on (prefer rugby & we're the current world champions at that) was reading stuart macconies book cider with roadies & he says he can be seen in the video for this - anyone spot him?

my better half says that new order doing this made her completely change her opinion of the band, lets just say they wouldn't appear on the sub zero section of the top gear board any more in her eyes

The best was seeing Bernard in an Elvis suit at the end!

Do you think they might have done it to piss people off? I always kind of pictured it as a middle finger to the goth/indie/punk kids.

A sunny, patriotic, sporty dance-pop song - what could possibly piss them off more?? it was so Un-Punk that it was more Punk then anything - if that makes sense.

We are all dumber for having read what you posted, and may God have mercy on your soul. Please tell me you were trying to come up with the dumbest possible thing that you could post!

lol...what are you talking about? It's a brilliant sociological insight. You must be a punk or goth or something to get that offended...

No, I'm not a punk, nor am I a goth. Your initial post was quite possibly one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen, and if YOU think it's brilliant, then you are the biggest dullard I have ever come across on this website.

Now you have wasted even MORE of my time...

No need to lie Jeff. I saw you on channel 7 news decribing how emotionally distraught you were when you received the news about Lindsay Lohan

'Goth/indie/punk kids' never really formed any significant part of New Order's fanbase though, so why bother?

I think it's a good tune myself. Surprised people think it's 3rd rate New Order. Chop and change the lyrics to be about drugs or make vague references to relationships and I'd have thought most people would've thought it was a classic in the True Faith mega-pop mould. Maybe not, hey?

I like it. And I'm really glad it fcuks off the Jocks!

Jaffari, I just said it was brilliant because I knew it would piss you off. You can't be serious! Are you always like this?

It reminds me of the glorious hot summer of 1990, huge Joe Bloggs flares and dancing drunkenly with fat sweaty women outside pubs after England games.

This is a good thing, NATCH.

who ever bought Joe Bloggs?

Song itself is alright for a footie song but crap as a NO tune. For a real class footie-related tune, check out the 'Official Colourbox World Cup Theme'.

He wasnt Russian. Its a mis-conception. Hes Ukranian (I think(.:banghead:

Me an'all. I get all nostalgic when I see the vid

Up there with the best footy songs. Probably the height of their popularity. I remember, a little while back, being at a reunion from my old job and one of my mates asked the DJ to play New Order for me, cos she knows what i'm like. Normally the reply you get in Newcastle is that they've got no New Order but can play Kylie 'Can't Get You Out of My Head'.

Anyway, he stuck on WIM and dedicated it to me. I was mortified but most peeps were loving it.

Inspired? Not at all.

We inspired ourselves from Chain of Flowers...

Look, the Punk sensibility is not a style of music but doing exactly what you want and not caring what other people think.

They did WIM knowing it would alienate some of thier older fans but they did it anyway because it was what THEY wanted to do. So, yeah, it's not outrageous to say it was a Punk sensibility that led to WIM. "True Punks do dance music" - obviously the band doesn't think that's incredibly dumb because they printed it right in their own album.

So what, exactly, is just so dumb about that?

Maybe you're just having a bad week or something, I dont know - but I can say without any exaggeration I've never seen anybody online get so riled up about something so trivial. Either way, I'm not wasting any more time arguing about a freaking pop song from 17 years ago, FFS...

I'm not riled up. You might want to go look in the mirror.
