It's personal, then?
In other words, Hooky can't put up with Barney's rancid Pernod farts any longer.

in todays STAR, the new girl doing the Goss described Ste Morris as the Keyboard player from new order. at the music of jocko origin awards, hejoked he'd gone down the dole office and realised he wasn't qualified to do anything.

What does Steve say? - after "I'm in me shed"![]()
Must admit my sympathies weren't with Hooky before this, as it appeared to me that it was he who had engineered the split, but he really does seem upset. This doesn't all add up though- Steve making riddle-like comments, Bernard saying nothing, appearing at Cannes with Gillian, and then Tony Wilson's "Farewell gig" comments. To be frank, I feel NO are p*ssing us about. Surely life's too short for this sh*t.
Maybe I'm drinking from the glass half full but Hooky isn't 100% categorical in that interview.
"It's not just a temporary hiatus?"
"Well, not that I'm aware of ..."
Sounds like communication within the band is almost non-existent. Wouldn't expect they're going to resolve anything any time soon but perhaps there's still a glimmer of hope long term.
Or maybe Barney's just holding back for his tell-all book.
:\pimp3:
hooky seems to suggest in his blog that there's so much confusion about the band's status that he might push for something called an 'official statement.' SHOCK! SHAME! HORROR!
of course, most everything on hooky's blog is also a pisstake, so what you gonna do.
Unfortunately, it seems Bernard's ego's too big to fit with Hooky's on the same stage.
Poor Stephen is stuck in the middle of this.
Or maybe, just maybe, it's just "artistic differences". But I was always under the impression that Hooky's tendency to pick up the mic in concert was upsetting Bernard...

yeah it could be musical differences. Hooky wanted the band to learn a new chord but the others thought stick with C.
Can anyone tell me whose radio programme Hooky spoke on yesterday about the split? I'm trawling thru' BBC6 playback programmes online trying to find it.
Thanks in advance.

I agree. Someone please post a direct downloadable link.
Actually I eventually found a very short clip of Hooky speaking about it. The news seems to have broke in some bloke called Gideon Coe's radio programme on Wed 20th June. So if you navigate through the BBC Radio site to BBC6 Music and find his show in the launch player thingy. It's a three hour show and it's on the news at 2 hours-30 minutes in, so you have to skip quite a bit. I think there must be a longer interview somewhere from the Mojo awards night but couldn't find it.
This whole thing is getting pretty stupid. It seems like the more Hooky talks the less likely Bernard will say anything. Maybe that's ultimately a good thing though.
