Actually, "remix" is generous - they looped ONE BAR of 303 fartmachine for ten minutes and fucked off to the bar for the rest of the recording session. It reminds me of stories about the government developing sonic weapons for crowd control. God damn it's bad. I'd rather listen to a powerdrill than that piece of shit.

Always thought the Armand Van Heldon remix of "BLT" is proof he hated the original song, and he was really stoned. Good for a laugh I guess.
The "Ruined" Dancehall mixes are just an idea to do something different and it ended up a very sorry deadend... hey, it's better to have tried and failed then never try, unless you are Homer Simpson.

There are many rather uninspired remixes from mid 90s period such as 1963 and True Faith, to the WFTSC 7" singles, people just collecting a check by taking one of their tracks and adding some New Order samples. So many remixes, some good, some bland.

Yeah, I rather like the pp remixes. The thing I wonder about, is when a remixer basically writes another song, presumably the rights in the track are still with the original 'artist', the remixer just gets a flat fee, no? So for instance, when Public Domain sampled the PP mix of Confusion for 'operation blade', presumably they had to pay NO for the rights, even though there was precious little left of NO in the sample.
It also seems weird that someone can 'sample' a track to the extent that the result sounds like a remix of the original (electroset's how does it feel, for instance or Robbie Williams rip off of the Bond theme, or half of Fat Boy Slim and Moby's output) yet claim it as an original work, yet a 'remix' that sounds nothing like the original is considered _not_ to be an original work. I suppose authorship is really just down to how many record company lawyers you have on your side.
The Pump Panel Remixes of Confusion are the only Confusion Remixes that I like. All the rest are so-so.

I don't think the Spooky (out of order mix) sounds anything like the original. Much better than the pump panel confusion though.
Also the Krafty Rilton Re-Rub remix and Krafty Passengerz Revolution Club Mix is totally different as well.
Well now that I'm thinking about it, the Here To Stay Scumfrog Dub mix sucks pretty bad too.
And let's not forget the 60mph Supermen Lover Remix! Yech!

I just discovered now another remix version of a song, wherein you wont find traces, including the lyrics, of the original song. It is:
Sweet Lips (Tony De Vit Trade Mix) or (Trade Mix)

The Pump Panel Flotation mix on the CD single is quite good, the version on"The Rest Of" is absolute shite.
The diecut sleeve promo of 1963-95 has a vocal mix of the track that really is VERY good and criminally unreleased. Don't know what it's called : "Joe T Vanelli Light Vocal Mix", I think.

It actually begs the question tho',when does a 'remix' actually stop being a 'remix' & become a 'remake'.In the '80's when remixes really started to take off with the likes of club mixes/extended versions,they at least did consist of,or contain,most of or very recognisable elements of the original tune.Go forward to the '90's & now,& most of what constitutes a remix,turn out to be a completely new,altogether different tune entirely,so not actually a 'remix',as rather a remake.Razormaids are a case in point,that's what I would call a remix/re-edit IMO.
