What were some of the best live New Order extended jams?

What were some of the best live New Order extended jams from the 80s? Thou I have not heard all the bootlegs like some of you people, I've always loved the few long live semi-improvised jams from the 80s that I've heard, certainly much more interesting than the recent DVDs by a long stretch. Songs such as "Perfect Kiss", "Blue Monday", "Temptation", "Everything's Gone Green", "When I'm With You" (A bootleg called Blue Monday was the first I heard)... maybe they extended other shorter songs also, I dunno. The band seems to have no respect for their past thou, but bootlegs from like 1984 sound ace to me.

So any favorite recordings people like, that stand out as excellent, unique?

When I'm With You from Milano 82 is a fave.

Thieves from the Hac 83 (debut performance?) plods along majestically for 10 minutes plus.

Not strictly a jam, but the improvised intro to Temptation Brighton 86 is pretty good too. The sequencer decided not to sequence, and there were a few furtive glances at each other in a 'shall we just give up?' type way before everything finally kicked in.

do the ostrich from woolich cornet 2nd april 1987, was very good.

the times when they played temptation and eveythings gone green and/or in a lonely place back to back remain outstanding highlights of the early 80,s shows for me.

5.8.6. from futurama 82 has "some weird noises going on"( according to slim) and is also very good

in the future you will be no friend of mine.

I have a 11 minute Thieves Like Us bootleg live (clocked at 11:08) on their 20 July 1983 gig.

I'm still waiting for them to play The Peter Saville Show Soundtrack live back to back with the Full Version of Elegia then Video 586. That would be already be 70 minutes without a spoken lyric. Maybe that would happen if Barney lost his voice.:)

Milan Rollingstone from 82 is definitely one of my favourite NO gigs and the encore is an amazing jam. This gig is also notable for the extensive use of delay lines, giving the bootleg a real dubby feel... very tight gig. As is the one from Bologna from the night before.

I love the version of Thieves Like Us from Hacienda July 1983. In fact the whole gig is superb.

Other highlights for me include the Blue Monday as Love Reaction, featuring Slim... Hilarious!

And most early versions of EGG and temptation as they evolve from publicly aired "ideas" to finished songs...

I'd love to hear that Brighton 86 gig if there's a spare copy about

There were a couple of great moments that came about due to equipment problems during 586, one was at Bradford 84 when they went for one of their segues linking EGG>Temptation>586 together, only this time the keyboards wouldn't work on 586 and we got a very long (heavily effected) drum solo intro which eventually lead into 586.

Another one that comes to mind is an impromptu version of Sister Ray over the drum patterns for 586 at Stirling University in 1983.

For extended there's always the very long version of Ultraviolence done in Hull in 82 (all 20 mins of it!).

The 586 at Wellington in 1982 was a long one, and there's a very long Hurt on Utrecht 82, or one of those Dutch 82 shows anyway.

I have a boot from an OZ/NZ show from either '85/87 with an unreleased/unrecorded instrumental jam which I think is fookin' quality,up there with WIWU from Milano '82 IMO.I've seen a post on here of what it was called,officially or otherwise,but can't remember what it was.As I'm in work,I can't dig it out,but I'm sure Tim knows what I'm on about,amongst others.I love the fledgling version of Temptation from Ukranian National Home,Nov' '81.

At least one neworderonliner missed the bus home as a result! Still enjoy listening to the gig and remembering the times I still had hair and a waistline (that I could see).

That'll be "Love Juice", the Auckland 85 encore. Not quite instrumental, but if a pottymouth filter is applied it would be!
