i doubt Sumner and Morriss would ever play live if they continued as new order but if they did and if Hooky played new order songs with Potts I'd rather watch Hooky, much better show, and obviously, that bass!
Just thought I'd add that I would obviously prefer to see new order with Barney, Hooky, Steve, and Phil or Gill, but I doubt that will happen again, almost certainly not live anyway, but I'm still living in hope.
Sumner & Morris is 1/2 of New Order, Hook and Potts is 1/4 of New Order. I'll take the bigger proportion.

If I had to choose an album made by either duo while looking at them on the shelf in a record shop, I'd go for Hooky & Pottsy.
I've got all the side projects' albums and I just prefer the style and approach of Revenge, Monaco and David Potts. Nothing against Electronic, although I enjoy their music, for me it's a little to bland. The Other Two made more use of Steve's programming skills than his talent with a 'real' kit, although Gillian was wonderful on both their albums.
So for me, Hooky and Pottsy win hands down. That's not an argument starter, just my preference.

I found myself pretty happy and content with Monaco's stuffs during the New Order drought of late 90s to 2000. I even remember playing a joke on my friend, giving him a CD-R of Monaco's second album and told him it was New Order's comeback album.:) ...and he believed it!! :D
Everytime I bought an Electronic album I ended up a little bit disappointed...and I'm a big fan of The Smiths as well.......yes of course there were some good songs on those Electronic releases but still I thought they could have been better especially when I read about Barney & Johnny's ideas, concepts or intentions when writing or playing music....plus collectively their broad knowledge of music & its historical references, etc....Somehow all those talk doesnt seem to translate well into the final product...whereas Hooky & Pottsy seem to be able to play straight-forward simple stuff and produce great music ala NewOrder-style!
