We know the next single is going to be 60 MPH, it's a classic NO tune and no mistake but is this the correct choice? It's now depressingly obvious that the order are not making much of an impact on younger listeners. What is the most commercial track on the album? Should it be remixed? If so, who by? This may not seem so important to us as fans of the band, but the performance of Crystal has set a worrying precident,(#52 after 2 weeks on chart)it appears we all go out and buy the tunes in the first week and then what?
What should be the next single?

well...i think a good second single would be "Close Range".
NOT because it's my favourtie song. You have to see it from that A&R point of view. Which song is catchy/commercial enough to introduce the band to also a Non-NewOrder audience. "60 mph" in my opinion is too guitar-based to reach the pop-audience. Maybe they'll do a more commercial remix..."Turn my way" is too long for getting radio airplay. And i think i don't need a butchered radio-edit of this song...
Yeah, I agree. Either Close Range or a remixed Someone like you could work really well. The great thing about Get Ready is there is so much strength in the depth of production and songwriting, theres a lot to work with. I just think 60MPH could be a bit of a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I love the record, but the singles market is more pop than rock these days.
Well.. this is why radio edit exists.. there will be a Radio Edit of Turn My Way, no problem with that...
In terms of remix, I seriously don't wanna listen to them if there is, because I can't imagine a remix of Turn My Way... especially à la Bedrock...
Is the Chemical Brothers collaboration finished yet? That should be the next single. Fuck album remixes just give us the new stuff. If New Order want to dent the charts they need this collabortion in the stores. The beats on Close Range sound a little like the Chemical Brothers in my opinion so it would be nice to get the Chems/NO collaboration and a mix of Close Range by the Chems on the same single like the Charlatans /Chems single several years back.
who knows maybe another version of BLUE MONDAY - the millenium version im surprised it hasnt already been done. But glad it hasnt.
new order crossing over to the current pop market is very unlikely, and im not sure they should waste resources attempting to do so. hate to say it but i reckon the key to get ready becoming more successful is by appealing to the older dido/coldplay/stereophonics/u2/david gray buying masses. im not really a fan of get ready but still its better than the recent efforts by the above bunch.
also its clear that by now the hardcore fans will have purchased their copy of get ready, but whats happened to the more casual fans? whats put them off get ready? surely there are plenty of 20 and 30 somethings out there who are familiar with new order, own a few of their albums but for some reason are ignoring get ready.

Here's my entire chart prediction for "60 mph" (best case scenario) week 1: 26; week 2: 68 week 3: OUT (worst case scenario) week 1: 46: week 2: 75
I know chart positions mean jack-shit: look how badly Get Ready the LP performed. Like the first guy said: New Order are only popular with their fans: who else gives a fuck anymore?

Hey, prepare yerself!! Only two years to go and it's time for the 20-th anniversary remix - a very likely possibility.
Fuck me, I'm starting to feel incredibly old. Anyway, like Barney, I fucking HATE Blue Monday now..... I've never played it for...ooh...about 13 years (since the '88 Remix went top 3)

BRIAN!! SPOT ON SPOT ON SPOT ON!!!!!!!! I SAID THAT AGES AGO!!! BUT NOBODY WOULD FUCKING LISTEN TO ME!!! New Order should stop milking the LP for singles like they did in the past and get back to releasing corking singles that stand up on their own> Who else agrees with me?? See separate topic to come!!

It's Close Range over Someone Like You anyday. The latter is so bland its untrue, but then again, that's probably why it might be released....

Yes, Velocity Girl, and I've been one of the strongest voices of opposition and dissent as regards the Get Ready Flop Fiasco: who exactly is to blame for it's commercial failure? London Records (98% guilty)? ; Warner Music Ltd (79% guilty) ? The hardcore fans (20% guilty)? The great British Record Buying Public (God Only Knows How Much!)?
I've already waffled on at great length on this particular issue on topics elsewhere: seek 'em out and add your voice!!
