Bought the NME yesterday - along with it came a gig guide and interviews (Charlatans, New Order & The Doves....) here's the New Order one for ye's all:)

Hooky interview from NME Live booklet

Back in the days when New Order were “burying our heads in lager and drugs” as Peter Hook puts it, they had a simple approach to playing live. “We’d go on a world tour and just practise twice!” laughs Hooky. “Barney would say, ‘when I walk in, hand me my guitar, and when I finish the set I’m walking out’” As a result the gigs were raw, almost too raw. “All the pain and anguish and resentment and anger you felt was reflected in the way you played. It’s a helluva lot more joyous now.” The secret is playing sober and getting “smashed” afterwards – a pattern they’ll be sticking to for their show at Finsbury Park on June 9 with Air and Super Furry Animals. The freshly “social” New Order are so well adjusted they’ve even been delving deep into the Joy Division back catalogue. “They’re good songs, and I’m sure that Ian, God bless his soul, is delighted we’re playing them again” says Hooky, “after watching 24hr party people we’d definitely like to do ‘She’s Lost Control’”. Have they thought of getting their onscreen doubles to play the first song? “No. The strange thing is that Barney keeps threatening it. ‘Get John Simm to go on tour with you then’ And we all go, ‘we’d fuckin love ‘im instead of you, yer miserable bastard’ But unfortunately John’s got other commitments. I was trying to get Alex James and Mani to play bass for a couple, in the hope I could get up with Primal Scream and Blur.” Joyous isn’t the half of it. Ian Watson

Hooky seems to miss the point, we loved those raw gigs, nowadays its too polished.

A small question - I've checked a few threads today having not posted for a couple of days and all I keep coming across is this same geezer - name keeps changing by the hour too into the bargain - who posts dozens of replies at once only to delete them all again......talk about trying to boost his post-count....

.....is his fooking head screwed on right or summat??

Jesus, what a fooking waste of space .... :nonono: Some people honestly have notthin better to do....

:cool2: :cool2:
