G'day cobbers - it's now 24 and a half hours into the marathon drinking session:evil4: Gotta admit, I did fall asleep fer an hour or 2 before the Argies game, which done me the world of good:nod: I have now just about drunk myself sober...hence the coorectiveness of my spelling:lol: Going back down the pub now, to wind up the England fans:evil4: While at the pub yesterday - everyone was giving their honest opinions on what they thought the score would be....aye - ye's guessed it The Shugster predicted a 1-1 draw:thumb: Although I was hoping Henrik would score the winner (which he so nearly did!) England were good in the first half - without creating much, second half Sweden took them to the fuckin cleaners - coulda / shoulda won the game easily, I'm not gonna go on, I know ye's are probably despondant......but just think fer a minute - it's gonna get a lot worse when the Argies get to ye's:evil4:  SHUG IN A BIT OF A DAZE, IN A GREAT WIND UP MOOD & GOING DAHN THE PUB TO CONTINUE WHERE I LEFT OFF:thumb:

Shows how fucking much you know about it matey !!!! Too long watching sides with no opposition, that's your trouble. If that was "good", not only am I the Pope but also a Buddhist at the same time.

What you English folks call football is dreadfully boring. Even more so than baseball and golf. How can two teams play for so long and finish in a tie? It's just not right. The point of competition is to win. You either win or lose there is no tie. (Do or do not there is no try) I did see a game at Arsenal vs. Man U. in 1995 and it's fun to watch for a while but no sport should end in a tie...it's ridiculous.

i'd rather watch drying paint.............................

Brian...

come now...how can any sport be as dreadfully boring as baseball???The only thing I find baseball good for is falling asleep!!!!

Of course, this is coming from an individual who enjoys watching cars drive around an oval for anywhere from 3 to 5 hours most Sundays...so what in the name of hell do I know??

hahaha

I always thought the same about ovals... although some super ovals can be fun sometimes... (whatever)

as for baseball, when you get into it, when there is strategy and there's something at stake, it can be the best game in the world.

I used to love soccer (football) but now, for some reason, aherrr... I can't stand these 1-0 games!!!!! SCORE POINTS, DAMMIT !!!!!!!!!!!!

And I am with Brian on this: no games should finish with a tie!!!!! PLAY TO DEATH !!!!!!!!

my humble opinion.

Reality strikes!!!!! Home with one point, mark my words.

Driving around today Seb, and heard about the tough day your Expos had. Phillies pitcher with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs!?!?! Yikes. Just one of those days that happens, it seems, to most teams.

My co-worker got a phone call from Mike Thurman last week before his start on ESPN against the White Sox, and you can bet he was very enthused after the game, with 7 strong innings. As you know, we'll see if he can make it through the year without any more injuries.

Shug,

Brazil is about to debut by now, so I've to sleep a little bit. Do you think that TV will transmit the Brazil's next games there in England. I'll be there for two games of Brazil and two of England. I'll drink a lot! See you there.

Yes Luis mate - every game of the World Cup is being shown over here;) Brazil played well today, and it was good to say Ronaldo score a beauty:nod: Not too sure about the penalty though - outside the box if you ask me, but on the whole they deserved to win:thumb:

Yes Shug, I agree with you about the penalty. It was outside the box, but Brazil did a goog match. So, we will see all England and Brazil games in PUB getting completely drunk! Good idea. Any news from the gig?

Watching the footy in the pub is a great idea Luisio:nod: you'll have to be up early to watch some of the games though!! On the Saturday morning the Italy v Croatia game kicks off at 10.00am over here, but luckily for you the Brazil v China game kicks off at 12.30 so we'll definitely be able to watch that in the pub:thumb: Looking forward to it - me and my pal Darren should be in London around 11.30 Saturday morning;)

What, doesn't anyone watch Hockey? That is one hella of a sport! Especially when they start getting into fist fights on the ice! If you don't watch it, you are surely missing out on a lot of fun! Does anyone watch Hockey here?

I still haven't figured out why so many people love football in the UK, or what they call football in the US! ;) I notice that Footie is all everyone talks about on this board!

I hope someone can enlighten me on why it is so popular.

I think you'll find that most people talk about football in here because it is the 'true' world game ... Every country plays it ... Unlike ice hockey, gridion etc ... I guess basketball and rugby are up there but nowhere near as big as football ... The world cup is bigger than the olympics ...

Okay, got up a couple of hours early (hell, it's not even 3 in the morning here yet!), and have not been disappointed yet. The first half flew by, but there is still another half to play. 3-1, who woulda thunk it?
