Suggested 'Recycle' tracklisting

I KNOW it's very, very sad, but if anyone wants to read what I reckon would be the definitive tracklisting for 'Recycled' (especially any London Record execs reading) go to the link below to download or view the Word document which lists something like 191 tracks which could make up a nice 18 CD set.

Even though it'd be nice to have each single release on one CD, I think it would be wasteful of resources, and also more expensive for us lot to buy, so I've combined some singles onto one disc in some cases, where the number of tracks allows. Obviously, as time goes on, New Order had a larger amount of remixes, so it's only really the first few singles that are "shared" on one disc anyway.

There's still a few spare 20-30 minutes at the end of some discs, so i'd like to hear anyone's suggestions as to what to fit on there, whether live outtakes ('Electronic Ecstasy' or '316', anyone?), or perhaps there's some decent remixes or edits which I've missed out.

I think an 18 disc set would be just about right (it weighs in at about 18 hours by my reckoning) - and I'd insist that all the original artwork images from the singles feature in one way or another on the packaging. I also think the final disc idea is a winner too, if they can get hold of the BBC master tapes for the recent sessions. Note the inclusion of the 'Salvation' movie tracks on the 'Touched By the Hand Of God' disc also.

The way the tracks fell into place allowed me to include all of those God-awful Sly and Robbie remixes of 'Ruined', but love 'em or hate 'em, at least it'll please completists!

Not all the mixes of every song are included, but anything not easily obtainable on CD has been bunged on there somewhere. Maybe I should do this for a living...

As i have got most of this stuff in mint condition and still prefer VINYL COVERS for the artwork to be done justice,can they not make a smart LARGE box and sell them to IDIOTS like me.The money i would save could be spent on me paying transport costs to interviews etc. ROCKET MICK

Andrew, I think your 18 disc set is perfect. I would gladly part with a pile of hard earned cash for this set, although I have a feeling that whatever we end up with by years end won't be so complete.

I am unemployed but not by choice. Shouldn't be to much longer before I find some work. My collection isn't huge and would pale in comparison to yours. I am really looking forward to this box set though. Alot of my vinyl has been bought second hand so the quality isn't that great. The box set should rectify this ...

Listen mate if u ever want anything putting to CD or minidisc that i have its yours.Now i have learnt how to use vinyl to pc,minidisc to pc and XP simplifies things then i have loads of time to do this .I am on a choosen break 30 months after a big payout.Recording is the only chance to view my collection.I do have other large collections of other music too.But not being a musician like you i have to make do with listening. If it's to be a singles/b-side deal, why not have two box sets similar to the Jam singles box sets, with each single available in little versions of the original single artwork (no clunky cd cases, just a paper cover)? if it's to be a 'career retrospective' then I guess that wouldn't work. Oh well, as long as Paul Morley is kept out of the picture in regards to the booklet, I'll be happy.....

I certainly wouldn't want a whole CD of Spooky remixes! Or many of the other remixes, especially the most recent ones.

Do they have enough songs to put on there of unreleased / hard to find stuff. I'm thinking Elegia 16 minutes version, someone mentioned Sunrise Instrumental, Vanishing Point Instrumental, Evil Dust, Theme, Homage and others that may be lurking in the vaults.

That is a thoroughly exhaustive breakdown of nearly everything and for that reason alone I'm very impressed with the whole package Andrew!! Great stuff!

My only reservation is that some of the CDs do duplicate what has already been released in those formats (especially the bulk of the material from 1993 onwards). The list I suggested on another older thread a few months back detailing miniature FACTORY 12" covers (done like CD slipcases with inner sleeves) of every 12"/7" released up to 1990 (yup, including "World In Motion" so shut it ShugZiVah!!) was an attempt to collect together all of New Order's output that was never released on CD - up to and including their first Factory CD singles issued - Fac 183 onwards. The collection stopped at "World In Motion" as - more importantly - I regarded this as the end of the Factory era proper, which it was. I didn't include the subsequent singles issued on London Records - as I don't consider they would have quite the same collector's appeal as the Factory originals - furthermore, I see countless versions of these later London singles going for £2 or less almost every record fair I've been to.... so that says something about their value relative to the rarer, scarcer 12" Factory vinyl editions....

Good point Hubert, I could see the relevance of stopping at the end of the Factory era, but my list was written purely as a "fantasy" way of acheiveing what Peter Hook once said was the basis of the box set - to get onto vinyl anything that previously hasn't been, so in that respect it still includes some recent remixes. But then again, if the box set completed the digital versions of every New Order tune, the moment they brought out another remix 12", there'd be another track to get on CD again somehow!

I'm not a fan of all of those Spooky remixes, but just chucked them onto that one CD, as I'd imagine thoses old(ish) mixes may be hard to come by now - and one reason for doing a box set is to make it cheaper for the fans to buy the one release than it is to hunt down all the individual deleted singles.

I based my list on the discography (pretty much all of which I've already got on vinyl - although I have a very shit record player, so hardly ever hear them) but I would prefer a more simplified collection, removing some of the tracks which already appear on Substance or The Best of, in favour of smoe more eclusive archived tracks (Elegia, etc.) but we don't even know if the master tapes of those still exist.

I'll be happy as long as they give us a few new gems, and get everything hard (or impossible) to obtain on CD included. And I'd like to see lots of artwork, too.

Aye...... Packaging - the all-important issue of course. You've got to do the whole project justice haven't you? Anything less simply will not do!

I've just updated the track list a little, to include some extra Blue Monday mixes I've found on the discography, and the running time of 'Such A Good Thing'.

Hi Andy i am just copying a CD for one of the members called NEW ORDER the remix.A great listing with OZ's LIVE AND DANGEROUS MIX.PARADISE -BOUNTY MIX AND TEMPTATION -WILD MIX. A gifted edition to any collection ,if it copies i am going to give it to.... ROCKET GENEROUS. I an also doing DEAD BODIES CANT SING and ELECTRONIC ECSTASY.not rare but worth havin....

I've got an original Bootleg-CD of "Electronic Ecstacy" by the KTS-label. Brilliant recording, great versions of "Ruined", "Round & Round" and "Fine Time"...

It was even better to hear those tunes during the performance at Reading '93. 'Round & Round' was fantastic. Shane the CD misses out a couple of songs.

That 'Electronic Ecstasy' must be an official recording, as the references to Michael jackson in 'True Faith' are muted out!

Maybe some of those tracks could be on the Recycled CDs? Looks like the Peel Sessions are coming out on a double CD anyway - hope the Steve Lamacq tracks are on there too.

yes, i guess the brilliant "Dream Attack" and "BLT" are missing. But i think only the "Peel Sessions" will be on that double-CD...but i like to get suprised

They did 'As It Is When It Was' as well, which I don't think is on that CD.

It IS on the "Electronic Ecstacy"-bootleg, but it's mislabelled as "Broken Promise".
