I suspect the has been come communication within the band... all of those "sarcastic" comments seem to indicate some resolution. And I suspect knowing they will all see each other at Tony's funeral and with various tributes being planned someone reached out to someone...
Maybe I'm too optimistic. Is there anyone in the know around here?

Hey Colin dude! That is not fair.
You have to understand, not everyone likes to participate in forums. Some people just read forums, and even though they want to react, they refuse to post because they don't want to be criticize. Some people loves forums, but then, there will come a time that they will get tired of them. A lot of reasons for this: change of interest, profession, responsibility, civil status, etc.
Just like me, I discovered the site around 2003 or 04, but I only registered myself last June 2006, and I only really started posting last May 2007.

Look, I was drunk, I liked the guys login name and didn't recognise him so I looked at his profile. I genuinely found it interesting that someone should login that many times and not post. I didn't mean any offence at all. I apologised twice anyway and it seems to have been accepted.
So sorry again, and sorry to you if anything I've said offended you. Or anyone else.
I won't make any more public pronouncements on the matter, but will be happy to discuss it by email or in person.

It's all good... I don't post frequently because I have very little to add to the discussion -- traveled to see NO twice (ohio to vancouver and chicago) and met many cool people both times. Sorry there isn't better news coming out of the NO camp these days.
I don't see how Biggy simply pasting the stats and asking how he remembers his password is so offensive, what's the big problem?
Two possibilities:
Hooky's been asked to take anything objectionable off the site which could mean they've patched it up between them or...he's been instructed by lawyers to do so because certain parties have now instructed their legal eagles to get cracking.
or....
he thinks it's pretty poor taste considering recent events and he might have to talk to the other band members at the funeral.

why don't they just get togther for a pint at one of their locals. that usually sorts it. the old craic and skits come out. they stumble home shitfaced. order the same kebabs. etc.

Hooky may very well have good reason for wanting to leave....I'd imagine its down to something between he and Barney...I even wonder if one of Barney's foul tempered pedantic comments might have really pissed him off..personally insulted him...or hurt his feelings.
But Hooky and Barney have been close friends since they were what....12 or 13? They have been through so very much together...and they are the driving force behind one of the most important bands ever.......
So I would think that, especially with Tony's death, perhaps that has caused both of them to put things into perspective, and they have realised that life is precious....and too short to hold grudges...and so perhaps they have talked?
I've been wondering if what has pissed Hooky off is NOT hearing something from Barney...perhaps Barney....being the emotionally reserved person that he his.....has not been forthcoming with praise...or even just genuine friendliness with Hooky for the past few years...and perhaps that has made Hooky feel not like a compatriot, band mate, creative partner, and best friend....but as more of just a hired hand...someone to boss around...and perhaps years of that has hurt Hooky and just pissed him off.

Perhaps Barney just needed to pat Hooky on the back and say, "That bass riff was grand, the times have been good, and you have been a good mate to me for nearly 40 years, putting up with my moody tantrums, my inability to articulate my feelings, my hatred of touring.....you've been patient. Thanks mate."
I wonder if that might be the root of it all......Hooky perhaps feels that Barney doesn't appreciate what he brings to the table. Yes, Barney is the main songwriter in New Order....but Hooky's contribution is pretty damn special. I mean....Hooky's bass lines are lovely...he has an amazing hear for pretty, delicate melodies. Thats why I love his playing so much. It may be cliche....but I think that Hooky's bass leads on BLT and TPK are beautiful.
On top of that...Hooky seems like a really decent, amiable guy. He has emailed me several times on Myspace and actually conversed with me. He even remembered the time from 1987 that my keyboardist hung out with him and NO backstage in Pittsburgh. "I remember your mate he smelt of fish!"
The fact that Peter Hook of New Order/Joy Division even took the time to have email conversations with a nobody like me shows me that he is a pretty decent and considerate guy.
So....I can only imagine that whatever happened with Hooky and Barney...it must be deep rooted and very personal. I don't think it has anything to do with touring, record companies, how well WFTSC did...I think it has to do with two old friends...and one of them not showing the other the friendly respect he deserves.
Hopefully the death of Mr. Wilson has made them realise that life is short. I hope they sorted thier issues out.
Sorry this is so long.....I've been pondering the above for a few months.
Plus....I don't want New Order to be over. I loved WFTSC....its my second favorite NO album, right after Technique.
I think that New Order still have one more brilliant album in them.
They need to get together, give it thier all, write some great fucking songs, put out a great fucking album, play some great fucking shows (8 dates in the US PLEASE) and go out with a great big fucking BANG!
Its only the right way....for the great fucking band that New Order are.
