This is a first try with trackerless torrents, so let me know if it works, I will update the list to put a few more interesting things.

Keep seeding once done if you want this to work well.

First seed will be the Community 2 DVD as promised to a few people, this is the PAL version, the NTSC version will follow.

If it works, I'll publish a few more soon, so check this thread for updates.

Your client must support the DHT technology in order for this to work. I highly recommand µTorrent.

file is invalid as determined by Opera's internal torrent handler and azureus.

not the spaced either (though you SHOULD avoid them, they are illegal characters....even in windows (remember the filename you see is not the real filename in windows, everything is still in the format aaaaaaaa.bbb there).

If this doesn't work, apparently µTorrent is able to be used as a tracker, I might do just that.

doesn't matter to me if it's PAL, Nick, I can handle that format (just got done watching the So It Goes/What's On compilation).

Didnt' get very far on the PAL torrent, doing better with the NTSC one at this point.

My cable connection is 10 Mbps in download, but it sucks big time in upload, and since it's not the only thing I do, it will indeed be slow until the first person get it....

I just enabled super seeding, I don't know if it will have an impact.

Don't hesistate to update your .torrent files, I have just changed the tracker's settings, so it might help.

Superseeding will cut down on the leech factor (it wont send me a packet it already sent to Biggie, so we have to trade them between us...for example) early on, once a few people have the complete torrent it's not really important.

Running fine now BTW, though I was only testing as I have the DVD.

Although, it's a DVD-R, so beside the fact that you will pay for the prive of a blank DVD, it's the exact same.

Nick - if that Buenos Aires gig is MP3 you should advertise that, as the accepted torrent standard is for non-MP3 sourced recordings.

Enjoy it while you can, I just learned today that my internet service provider decided to put quotas and they don't offer any illimited packages.

So this means, I'll close the computer on October 1st and downgrade to a worst connection type as this is getting useless.

Maybe my computer is down (which is the seed)

Since I'm in super seed mode, I only send it to a few peers, to make the initial download faster.. maybe it's why it's showing that.

But this morning it was seeding at 20 kbps for each... I only have 100 kbps in upload, so bare with me.

I'm pulling it in at about 33KB/sec. Once I get the full copy, I'll leave my ktorrent seeding for a couple of weeks or so. What about the live in Buenos Aires torrent? Currently I'm not getting ANY. I can only do my part for the torrent if I can get a full copy.

At one point last night, there were over a hundred peers going for it and not a single seed so you could say the supply/demand equation is slightly off-kilter!

I was able to listen to a few bits of it and it reminds me of The Beatles' infamous final gig in San Francisco: bored-sounding musos, playing out of time and out of tune with a going-through-the-motions feel to it. If I do manage to get it all down - and it's standing still at around 30% at present - I'm thinking of calling it Fin as in finale!

Ps Strangely The Beatles, The Pistols and Ultravox played their final gigs in San Francisco before calling time. I might be wrong about The Pistols as that might've happened in LA - someone confirm or correct this please?!

Nic, you might want to try Bell or Telus. Unlike Videotron, they don't have u/l or d/l quotas and it's much less per month than "business cable". I switched from Videotron to Bell, then from Bell to Telus after a few years and it only improved each time. Just my 2 cents :^)

Well, he did miss more than a few tunes, but I kind of liked the overall performance. Btw, I'm downloading the PAL version and not the NTSC, my bad. There are many users with 97 % and above, mine is at 61,5% going on at 11 kb/s now, but it was doing a bit over 30 kb/s just a few minutes ago. I think it won't be long 'till we start seeing some seeds.

What you wrote is totally impossible to understand, but I think the answer might be, you simply need to do a DVD video with Nero and put the files in VIDEO_TS in the same folder in the Nero interface in order to make a readable DVDR.

Do not burn a DATA DVD... :nono: that won't work.

Well a "pay per torrent" wouldn't be a bad thing. Just one thing, Community is shipped from where? Since it's 3 dollars shipping to the US, I guess it's in the US. That would be a real drag to get it pass costumes and having to pay all those taxes.

Is it not being seeded at all? (i.e. you can't download it because no one else is actually hosting any files). You can see the number of seeds available under the seeding column in uTorrent. We had this same issue a couple of weeks back when everyone's copies of Buenos Aires stalled because there was only Nicos hosting it.

Also, I haven't got uTorrent in front of me but it has an indicator at the bottom of the screen as to whether your port's forwarded at all. Green for go, or Yellow for sort-of going (even on yellow you would still download way more than 16kb in 21hours though!), and red for no connectivity at all. You'll have to forward a port to get the best out of your firewall - there's very verbose instructions on how to do this within the uTorrent application itself. Can't remember where off the top of me head though without looking at it but there's basically a 'Test' you run (perhaps from under preferences?) and then you take it from there.

Forget downloading New Order stuff though. Get onto http://thebox.bz/ and download British TV programmes, or head for torrentspy and search for all things 'Vivid'! You won't regret it.

PAL or NTSC is not important, but at the moment there are 15 people trying to download this, and no one has more than ca 31% of the files.

The point is, to me at least, is there are a load of leeching cunts out there who demand free stuff and whinge when they can't have it, then promptly sell the stuff when they do get hold of it on eBay. I used to put a lot of gigs up on Dime, but there were so many people just leeching the recording and not even bothering to say thanks for the handout, let alone sticking around to seed it for a while and help others get it. Anyone who knows me will know that I am always prepared to help the genuine guy get whichever recording he/she wants, hundreds of people on this site have benefitted from my 25+ years collection. Chancers can fuck off though. Believe it or not, some bozo mailed me the other day and asked me if I would send him TEN recordings of NO. Just like that. Never heard of the cunt before and doubt I would again, they would appear on eBay as exclusives by the time the ink has dried. Check the date of birth, it ain't 10th November.....

The 54 % you talk about is for both the PAL & NTSC versions. I do believe the PAL files of the DVD is complete. If you use utorrent just open the "Files" tab and look there. If you see that you have a complete PAL version, just burn it to DVD, and enjoy.

I've been a member of NOOL since before Tim, but have far fewer posts. I've never asked for any seeds here, because I hate the whole elitist attitude of these seeders.

If you love new order, you willingly spread the wealth to any other fans.

I have loads of boots from the 80s, off mint condition vinyl, but as long as Tim et al calls new order fans cunts, I am not sharing it here.

This is music from new order and joy division, and nobody but them 'owns' it.... share it willingly or be an asshat, it is your choice, Tim the moderator.
