Spam in PM

Just a tip: How about putting a verification of assorted characters where people have to type before sending the PMs so that NOOL knows that a person is sending them a message and not a computer? It would be a hassle though.

It's called a Turing Test security system, named after Alan Turing, inventor of the programmable computer, who asserted that should a person find themselves able to talk with a computer and not realise it's not a person, it must be considered intelligent. That is the classic Turing Test, the security system borrows it's name as a bot cannot pass it.

Regarding PM's..... If you delete them before you read them, they forever show up as "new" in the list. Someone sent me a message about 5 times a while back, so between the 3 unread copies of that I deleted, and the one Spotnick deleted, I now have a full time "4 new" message in my inbox.

Tell me about it, the things exclude bots, dogs, cats, stoned humans, and anyone else without a taste for surealist fonts. Optical character recognition is finally catching up to the human brain, so the arms race between captchas (thanks BTW, I sprained my brain trying to think of that) and OCR software will eventually squeeze us monkeys out.
