I've always liked the lyrics and the song. Anyone know what TBTHG is about?
Heard it was about the soccer player Maradona but how could it be. ![]()

Wikipedia on the "Hand Of God" goal...
Of course, it might also be about masturbation, and it was also on the soundtrack to Salvation! (a film about televangelism)...

Is there any kind of list detailing who wrote what anywhere online?
I don't mean guesswork, but authenticated by the band kind of stuff, no matter how incomplete.

Couldn't find anything either on here or google but if you dig deeper you might find the songwriting credits.
I thought Barney wrote all the songs myself except maybe the earlier stuff like "Movement" or "Brotherhood"
It could be about anything. New Order's lyrics are quite open to interpretation, regardless of what the members say.
I think, as with most New Order songs, it is a collection of words that happen to rhyme.
The 'God' reference makes it fit in with the movie 'Salvation'
I doubt there is any deep meaning!

I agree. Because the members of the band wont know anything about what the song is actually about. ![]()
I always thought the song was about the unpredictability of love. You never know when it will come or go, or with whom. It may as well be an act of god because it often seems completely out of your control.

They're all about shagging.
I thought they were all about masturbation.

I second that. Whenever I felt in love I always recalled that song's title!
