Control - 501??!

Did anyone else notice, after the "hooky riot", the coffin-like flightcase left on the floor marked 501?

Was that an in-joke or prophetic coincidence?

I said it was 'coffin-like' to highlight the significance.

There was the story of the band putting Ian in a flightcase and pushing him down stairs, but yes, 501 was Wilson's coffin/funeral.

Unless, knowing he was ill, he had already had the idea for having FAC 501...

To work properly, someone must have known that he was going to die before the film was premiered...

Well he had been ill for a while, so there was always the possibility that he may have died, not necessarily before the film came out or even in the aftermath, but if the FAC 501 number was even a possibility in AHW's mind, putting it in there wouldn't have been a problem - as it happens the reference is there, if he was still with us, it's just a number on a box...

From what I can remember, years ago, music mags used to occasionally list the Fac Numbers so far and various big numbers were reserved ahead of time for things yet to happen (like New Order's new LP - still 2 years away or an impending court case or buying a property for something or other). Tony probably had 501 reserved for a while. All part of Factory's dark humour.
