Nice to hear a little bit more about things.

Funny how the 'attitude' is publically coming from Mr Hook these days but clearly, none of us know what has been said behind closed doors (no pun intended.)

Just finished the Barney biog and the Pistols gig book by Mr Nolan and have to say, it's sad that it's come to this but c'est la vie.

I wish I could have just one more album, as I think they had one great one left...but they are getting on in years. Seeing NO in thier retirement ages would be a bit silly. Has to end somewhere, just wish that they could have done one thing past WFTSC....it seemed they were on the edge for something...

I concur with that. I don't want them to sing "Love Will Tear Us Apart" with the stadium choir in their mid-60s. It won't sound right. But damn, just release those 7 leftover tracks and then give us a decade of old rare tracks, remixes, alternative mixes, concerts, etc., like any other band does on their retirement. Or do something new, - we all would look forward it.

Bernard once said he makes new music because he simply loves making music. Apparently and sadly this is not the case anymore.

Haven't there been enough remixes these last few years? And what old rare tracks do you expect to find? I don't there are any songs in the JD/NO catalogue that they properly recorded that we haven't heard by now.

The 7 left over tracks would do me. Seems stupid to have them sitting on the shelf, although I suspect if they were that good Warners would have got them out there somehow.

I think Bernard probably still loves music but in a different way to Hooky.

Regarding the 7 tracks that are left: expect 7 new compilations in the coming decade, with one new track on each compilation.

They have a term for it: milking the fans.

If I'm being honest, New Order's output has been just average ever since Gillian left. It went from must-hear to indifferent shrug. It's like watching a brilliant Premiership footabller in decline and forced to play for lower league sides. Sometimes, you just wish they'd do a Cantona.

Thatt can't take away from what they achieved earlier in their career, but I'm not bothered if they never release another new record. The Factory mythology is what's getting all the attention these days.

New Order don't take chances with their music like they used to either. It's like they're too old to be jumping into the crowd karate kicking supporters and are content to put their name on any old shit that comes from the megastore. ;)

I LOVE New Order but fucking hell, they've been shit since Regret and will never produce another classic so whats the point? I don't want them to become as sad as the Stones, it's bad enough as it is, they will never have the fire in their bellies again....unfortunately its been replaced by beer and man-boobs....and I fucking hate that it had to end this way....if it had ended the night of Reading '98 it would've been perfect, but now the dog needs to be shot in the head and we have 8 years worth of mediocre dad-rock to compensate.

Agreed. Crystal is better than Regret by several country miles. Get Ready and Waiting For the Sirens Call were both far better albums than Republic...and possibly Brotherhood as well ( Thats just my opinion).

Crystal does not piss all over regret....although its one of their best post-reform tunes, the stupid girl wailing intro ruins it, and unfortunately the lyrics mean naff all...Basically Regret is full of passion and bitterness and crystal just isn't. And if you prefer WFTSC to Brotherhood then whatever, but personally I prefer my Barney young, angry & pissed off rather than content like the middle-ages sap that I live in fear of becoming
