well with 24th September being the final date for entries, I'm a bit surprised at the entries . I have listened to 90% of them so far and find it hard to believe the ratings they are getting full stars for what can only be described pretty poor remixes.

oh well I can't complain gives me more of a chance I guess :) for my entry next week. anyone else feel mixes are a bit below par? or "crikey is this it"? kinda feeling.

Danny the boy B, remixes after the year 1990 have all been wank, nay, totally soiled, nay, fucking appalling.

If I coud crystallize my feelings towards re-mixes in one single word, that word would have to be...

bad eggs.

(okay two words)

that's true really. not only new order remixes 1986 Arthur Baker did some mixes of PSB stuff etc that was pretty good.. a remix should retain the heart of the song and make it better.. since 1990 it seems to have been 4 on the floor tripe , meaningless tracks going in no diretion.

I listened to a few of the "remixes" at acid planet. I was not impressed. I'm playing around with it myself now. I think that part of the problem is the limitation of Acid. It is a very powerful and very cool product, but it's still just editing .wav files. I'm going to have to be pretty happy with my remix to post it.

Shame the competition is only open to entries from the USA.

The Acid software (free download) will also only allow you to use 10 samples in a mix, so fairly useless really. I thought of resampling them and doing a mix using Cubase, but my pc is playing up at the moment, so I'll have to leave it. I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's mixes though.
