Hello friends,

I don't know if this is just me but when I see one of the four with a certain product I want it. I'll give you an example. Four years ago I saw a picture of Barney eating a Jacobs Club biscuit (it was orange flavour)so straight away I wanted one. I went to my local supermarket but they didn't have any. I visited all the supermarkets, shops, off licences etc to get my hand on these delights. I ended up phoning a list of confectionery makers to find out if I could get Jacobs anywhere. I was told that there were still on sale in Belgium, so I booked a ticket to Zeebrugge and lo and behold on my arrival in Belgium I went straight to the market and bought 25 packets of Jacobs! Yes finally I could sample the taste that Barney had when he had that photgraph taken. My relief and joy was plain to see to all around as I broke into tears my quest had taken me 3 months but it was well worth it!

Does anybody else have a similar story? Incidentally Barney had that photo taken in 1983 in Glasgow when Jacobs were still out in the UK. I still have a few packets left and I plan to find the spot where the photo was taken and strike a similar pose! Fantastic.

By the way the new album is the greatest, the best ever a work of genius and of beauty. I love NO always.

Thanks for listening.

Wow, that's some kind of fetishism... Nope, no experience of that kind, sorry. Funny story though...

When Barney and Johnny started wearing "Gio Goi" clothes i went on a utter mission to find stockists, I lived on the south coast at the time and there was one shop in Brighton that sold a very limited range (like 2 tops!!) I phoned up the offices and they kindly faxed me a list of stockists tho unfortunatly there was nothing "officially" stocked below London because of designer competition or summin, so i had to trek up to Manchester to pick up the Jacket Barney wore on his "Get THe Message" (dna mix) Performance on TOTP. He wore a lot of Gio Goi stuff in those days, and there was evan an interview in ID magazine about the company who was started up by a couple of mancunian lads, obviously NO fans!!

Peregrine is my nickname because I look like a falcon!

And Underfoot is my surname (I know it sounds like something outta Lord of The Rings).

I anyone can top that journey of mine, then I salute you.

Peregrine, do you believe Barney's sensitive lyrics are in any way influenced by his love of Jacob's Cream Crackers?

Example, "And it cuts your life, like a broken knife (Margarine)"

Dear, oh dear, I used to have a gorgeous Gio Goi shirt and still have two t-shirts which are in really good nick - such quality. They used to have a shop in Covent Garden - only lasted a year or so, mind, before folding.

Bought myself a pair of basketball books and wore long Nike socks with them after seeing Barney dressed similarly at Finsbury Park 1987.

Like Inta - I actually had two of those Gio Goi jackets that Bernard wore. I've still got one at the back of my cupboard somewhere. GG are still going in Manchester, but they are trying to build up their reputation once more.

Does anyone know anything about Johnny Marr's clothing company - Elk. They appear to be taking off in Leeds and Manchester - although stockists are hard to find

Does anyone know if Woolies still keep in stock those spangled massive white Y-Fronts that Stephen wore during the 1985 Low Life Tour?

everyone who was anyone wore gio goi clothes in the late eighties. there were no stockists of gio goi in my hometown of barnsley so we had to make the regular monthly pilgramage to manchester. towards the backend of gio goi's poularity quite a few of the shops in leeds started to stock it(behind the times as usual)so i used to go there to buy my gear. we probably got it in barnsley about 4 years too late! i didnt wear it cos barney did or whoever, just wore it cos it was good stuff and it was from manchester! everyone in the north seemed to wear it along with joe bloggs jeans (where are they now ?) incidently i just sold an old gio goi coat to an old friend for £100,so get looking in those wardrobes boys! back to the original posting: bit sad to go all the way to zeebrugge just for some jacobs biscuits mate!
