do they really need Barney to put out remastered albums? of course not. would be nice to see him involved, but London/Warners could always go forward without him--and probably will if they think it would be remotely profitable.
Probably just making a publicity stunt for his upcomng Freebass project, or just seeking attention.
Do we really need the band for a remasters project? Or the management enough will do. Anyway, they can coordinate with the members.

I think that's very unfair - People, especially here keep asking and speculating about the future of New Order, the individual members etc. and wanting answers of some kind. Hooky has at least tried his best to explain what has been going on. Whether that's come across in the way he intended or not is a different matter, but it's hard to please everyone and I really don't think snide comments help.
I don't think that it's a 'publicity stunt' for Freebass - you'd hardly need it with (ex)members of:
Joy Division/New Order The Smiths The Stone Roses Oasis
involved... I think anyone with an open mind would be interested regardless. The music press certainly are.
How about everyone puts on a happy face and just looks forward to what look to be very promising forthcoming releases and GIGS!
Freebass gigs will be an excellent excuse/opportunity for the real fans to meet up, see a band play great music and have a laugh together again.

Not violently - calmly and in a reasoned manner. Regardless of saying 'probably' it's still a bit mean to even suggest it, especially when talking about someone who you (as most of us) claim is/was part of our favourite band ever...

I think Freebass will have very limited appeal, I'm not convinced it's gonna work at all unless they come up with something extra special.
Yep, good for some 'social' activity, but the very people who'll attend (am sure I for one will) will be the very people from here who will be saying, "It's not like New Order is it?" and, chances are, the people most likely to give Hooky stick for the break-up of New Order. Or, at least, for his comments pertaining to the break-up.
Some of Hooky's most loyal fans are also his most critical!

Nearly 3 years since Freebass was announced...
Nearly 2 years since 'The Tower' was rumoured for an I-Tunes release...
All we have heard so far is 'I Envy Us' on MySpace- that's going to make for a pretty nifty playlist on any supposed tour!
I'd like to see Freebass take off, but it seems like a non-starter. It'd be much better if Hooky's energy was redirected towards getting NO back in shape.
Maybe it's just me, but every time there is something where Hooky has a good idea and Barney scraps it, I think that Barney is just lazy.
Or Barney trying to get his own way.
Reading Confusion recently, that came across quite strongly i.e the power dynamic inside the band and how it's shifted from more of a democratic thing in the 80s to being more of a "I'll write something and we could then work on it" approach where Barney seems to assume the lion share of actual construction work on songs with fewer coming from jamming as in the past.
Maybe Freebase is a continuation of Revenge and Monaco because Hooky wants to prove that he can write decent music with collaborating with Barney. No, it'll be nowt like the Order really but who really expects it to be so anyway?
