Hi, apologies if this is the wrong forum but I've just signed up to NewOrderOnline. I wondered if anyone could shed any light on a new Joy Division box set of 2cd's. The first is a compilation of tracks by them, the second a compilation of covers. It has an embossed white hard cover and is published by Universal Music Publishing 2007. I presume it's a film tie-in. Is this a genuine rarity or another rip-off? Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome GAMICS.Can you name some of the covers?Haven't heard of this release myself but i don't collect anymore so can't help you.No doubt someone will be along soon to clarify all this. Regards Rocket Mick:hat:

I think I have to call boot on this one. As far as I know the last JD issues are the re-issues (I'm still waiting for mine) and three songs on the Control soundtrack.

Warners and London Records are the official copyright holders as far as I know.

Thanks for that Old Blue. No doubt numerous copies of the 'limited edition' will turn up over coming months. I also read in Record Collector that 'Permanent' will get the reissue treatment soon. Shame it's not the New Order back catalogue with extras but that's another thread!

Far too nice to be a boot surely? Methinks the packaging is more interesting than the content really, obviously already having the original tracks,& I'm not sure I want a cd of inferior covers,Lcd Soundsystem being an exception,IMO

It's a promotional item only, issued by their publishers to promote the recorded works (at this rather appropriate time).

Definitely not a bootleg - very nice if you can afford it...

A promo that costs $200? WTF? What does it promote and for whom?

I do recognize most of the covers, but not all. So it's like a "best of JD covers" too? Where is Isolation by Therapy?(?) It is by favorite JD cover next to NIN, and it is far better than that crappy Starchildren version. I find that Starchildren version weird.

Indeed*!*

I think that 'A Means To An End' is the best Joy Division's cover album ...
