Peel Sessions

Did you know that Amazon already has the new Peel Sessions CD listed? I saw it on the site yesterday. It's called "Before & After", it's a double CD, has JD tracks and will be released (of this I'm not sure...) on July 16th.

Ah...well...the New Order disc seems to be the "BBC Live in Concert 1987", and not the Peel Session 1998 ?!?!?

So who the FUCK Strange Fruit thinks is going to buy this one ???

Sorry, this is so insane! Instead of releasing the brilliant 1998 sessions, they put out this useless crap...somebody said earlier that the rights of the 98' Session belong to the BBC, so where's the f...... problem ???

I cannot understand this, sorry...

As this Peel Session compilation is for the fans, what is actually included for the fans? ... we've all got this.

The NO CD seems to be the BBC live at Glastonbury. If so, it's a shame. And the JD CD? Is it the BBC CD released last year (as I don't have it I don't know the track listing)?

Yeah, like what Ricardo Ferandes said. What a crock. New material, stuff we have not heard before. I already own both. Unless the BBC concert is remixed to sound better OR to include the songs cut from the concert (I have the bootleg of that show somewhere and tracks are missing), I have no incentive to purchase it. This may be the third attempt to sell that NO concert--I have seen two different covers for the disc.

I didn't hear the announcement personaly. The story is as follows: A friend of mine reported to me that she had heard Radio 21 announcing that a double Peel Session CD of JD & NO was on its way; the announcement came with the broadcasting of True Faith. As she had never heard neither the Peel Session 1998 nor the Glastonbury version of True Faith, she didn't realise that the announcement was partly wrong. I reported the news to Seb & Spotnick, quite confident in what she had told me. Sorry about the disppointment. I think that Radio 21 themselves were not aware that the NO part of the CD was not the Peel Sessions.

About the NO CD: The missing tracks aren't there, and I doubt it will be remixed. It's indeed at least the third attempt to send this record.

The JD CD was already released some years ago, titled "the complete BBC recordings". Those are in fact the two Joy Division Peel Sessions, previously released (first separately then together with a cover changing from time to time), + two later versions of Temptation and She's lost control + an interview.

Count me in. (As not getting it!!!)

People, I noticed something odd... Following Ricardo's post I visited "CD universe" site and I noticed that the CD is called "Before & After-The Peel sessions". What's odd about it? Well, the original-release NO Glastonbury 1987 gig was NOT a Peel session. Is it possible that there's something wrong with CD universe's track listing? After all, a web-trade site isn't exactly "cannon", is it?

I doubt they're wrong: the friend of mine who heard the announcement for the CD on Radio 21 and the True Faith version they broadcasted told me that it was a standard True Faith version (i.e. without the "techno" intro of the recent gigs) with Barney singing out of tune on it. It definetely sounds like the 1987 Glastonbury recording. But, if the CD is indeed subtitled "the Peel Sessions", it is understandable that the Radio 21 DJ announced it as a Peel Session CD!

Well... I STILL find it very, very strange. A Peel Sessions album with live tracks(or a live album with Peel sessions tracks)? I guess we'll have to wait till July 16th to find out

I presume that Radio 1 recorded the whole show from Glastonbury but only broadcast the 9 songs.

What would of made an interesting release was the other songs they played that night - surely these must be in a vault somewhere.

I seem to remember Elegia, Sub-culture and Sunrise were played in the same set at Glastonbury.

There i was, looking forward to n/o's 1998 peel sessions being on cd for the first time, then what do we get..just another disappointment from strange fruit :(. i only hope we don't get the same sort of disappointment with the recycle boxset..shit..there's a horrid thought!

what if the recycle boxset is a huge disappointment? (eg. it cotains just a load of remixes and only about 3 b-sides!)

i think i've just found out why strange fruit are releasing this shoddy "before and after" cd.

i've checked all the major uk cd sites (hmv, amazon.co.uk etc) and they don't have the cd listed at all. yet it's listed on all the majour american cd sites.

when i went to amazon.com (the u.s. site) i found that both new order's glasto 87 cd and joy division's complete bbc recordings were listed as imports, and this made them more expensive.

so my guess is, is that strange fruit are making this before+after cd an american only release, so that people who want to buy the n/o glasto+j/d bbc cds won't have to fork out a load of cash for the uk imports.

am i right? (that'll be a first time :D) or have i got this completely fucking wrong as usual? lol :stupid:

I asked about the 98 peel sessons And the fact nobody likes this new cd And I showed them this form.

There response was this:

"Our Peel session album is from 81/82 and was released in 2000."
