Nice find. 
I believe that this is Blue Monday's full debut on 27 Nov 1982 as on the 25th they played an instrumental version. This then is a bit of history.
I wonder if there's more of this gig out there and if we'll get to see it.
So Barney has always helped out Gillian on the keyboards on the end of BM.
What shits me is that I was actually in Melbourne on those dates, but I both hadn't heard of the Order then and I was still too young to go to these venues.

It says in the notes that its 27/11/1982 at the Seaview Hotel, so yup, this is BM's debut alright. And it sounds like it

and, though I'm sure I'll get crap for this, Hooky's bass is too loud on Ceremony...christ, I mean, the guitars are equally important.
Having watched a lot of vintage videos on youtube, I get the impression Bernard is struggling to sing over Hooky half the time, and obviously projection often screws up his pitch. But no matter what you say about the quality of Bernard's vocals, most singers can't really be expected of much if they can't hear themselves. Granted the monitors could have been producing a different mix...and in that case Bernard's just being lazy and drunk.

If the spikey twat showed up for soundchecks, his monitor mix wouldn't be perpetually fucked. New Order generally all run their backline too hot, or at least used to[1], so monitors are essential, and hard to sort out. Also, just cos the bass is deafening on the Front of House, do not assume it's even audible on stage, it could be D.I.'d and STILL rip yer lungs out out front.
Get crap for sayinig the bass is too loud, and that guitars are important? NAHHHH, SHOT yes 
Oh, BTW, the bass stays outside the range of the human voice more than a guitar, so Barney's own racket is more likely to interfere with his ears.

Poor Gillian, you can retune a stroppy analogue easy enough, but rescaling them's another story, most require a spot of the old James Herriot with a screwdriver. You can hear that she gets the first note in tune, but the further away the next note is on the keyboard, the further off the tuning is. C becoming B is dealable. An octave becoming a sort of sharpenned major seventh or flattened minor ninth, that's just run off stage and hide material that is. Thank FUCK my Moog doesn't do it, tho our Juno60 has been known to drift (downright weird as it's supposed to have digital oscilators like the 106 not proper analogue ones like the 6).
[1] based on hearing boots where the PA cuts out an instrument here or there, hearing Hooky's backline level relative to PA at the appollo, and the bare fact that Hooky has a giant amp, and Barney cheats and uses an AC30 (basically the doomsday weapon of volume wars....if an orange is unavailable of course...an AC30 set at 8 or 9 will shred it's way through anything short of 10K of PA)

I'm not convinced of that, the camera moves about and zooms in and out during the show, it's unlikely to be part of the CCTV. More likely venue filmed for a simultaneous showing on a screen.

Tried to buy meself a copy of this video boot in the late 80s off a record shop owner who was renting it out for $5 a night in Brissie, Queensland. Didn't want to part with it though, more's the pity and shame my rellies didn't have TWO VCRs or I woulda deffo cloned a copy!

Another Stephen Hague 
I was living in Perth, West Australia at the time of this tour. I was 18 years old and not really into New Order at that time. They played at the Old Melbourne Hotel in Perth. A small, intimate venue about 3 miles from where I was living! To this day I wish I could turn back the clock and attend this gig.The following year, I saw John Cale perform at the Old Melbourne. They'ed just had a new carpet fitted and the audience were sitting down on it and the staff issued all the smokers with ashtrays!
