Friends or Not ?

Don't think they've been "friends" since about 1989, and certainly not since 1992. Business partners and band members yes, but not good mates.
Who cares, I'm glad it;s the end. Meeting up was better than the gigs.
You can't recreate 1984

I find it sad in a way, as theyve known each other since they were 13 (or whatever). Maybe they always had that school competitive attitude that school friends can sometimes carry. Maybe too much water has passed under the bridge over the years to continue the friendship. They always seem to blow hot and cold. I guess that friction is what made the music so great.
How does Steve fit into the equation? I know he went to Barneys wedding, so I take it theyre still friends. Is Steve friendly with Hooky?

dead right great book,, shite film.![]()
the past is now part of my future .
What people seem to forget all the way through is that they're almost life-long mates.
They've had a grumpy moment. Some moments last longer than others.
You can bet if any one of them was in real shite, the others would be there to support them.
They'll be chatting again. Maybe not soon, but they will.
Even New Order aren't as dumb as their fans...

good one Chris![]()
that pic, combined with Norman Bates looking on, is so... ![]()
I dunno... the pain of friends who have lied or betrayed you in the past is hard to forget, it's not easy. The statements from Bernard sound like major denial and that he is far from going back to way things were. Sounds like Hooky has to patronize Bernard and Hooky is sick of it.

i don't know, but I need you to change your name...
there's only room for one Jeff in this village...
and that's ME!!!
I seem to remember that's what you said when you were standing behind me at NOOL Day Jeff... ![]()
i wish they were still creating some music together. Tension is very conducive to music me thinks.friends are overrated.
I don't know who did what to whom. But from some of the statements Hooky made, I got the impression that he was anxious to begin working and touring again and once again Bernard was busy with something else (I'm guessing the beginnings of Bad Lieutenant.) Hooky got angry, hence all the "work ethic" comments and such. They appear to be two very different people at two different places in their lives and they've grown apart. Being in the limelight and being a "pop star" is important to Hooky. Bernard is not interested in that. Bernard just recently got married too. Maybe Peter just got tired of always waiting on Barney. Perhaps I'm just grasping at straws, but I think they've just grown apart and no longer have a common bond. Maybe with time they will find that again. (She says crossing her fingers!) It does appear that Stephen is siding with Barney, whatever did happen. There's no good guy or bad guy here, IMO.
Nice one Liz ![]()
I think that Steve generally comes out best in these things, simply because he's sensible enough to keep his gob shut.
Good luck to all of them in whatever they do ![]()
