Pete Tong = Deaf Wanker

Dresden of Gabriel & Dresden fame was kind enough to share some info with us back when those mixes were completed....unfortunately, the discussion about how valuable remixes and remixers were/are was a little more one sided. Needless to say, he won't be posting on this forum again...sadly.

Future remixers should include: Underworld (who I believe could do a great version of Vicious Streak), Andrew Weatherall and Four Tet/Fridge.

I guess I've had the idea that I don't like remixes stuck in my head for so long that I haven't really given them a fair go. Which remixes do you suggest I listen to first Mick ?

The Gabriel + Dresden 911 Vocal Mix of 'Someone Like You' is one of my recent favourite remixes. Goes on a bit, but the vibe is great, and it adds to the original, rather than destroying it.

i never bothered with remixes...never seeked them out. it's kinda lazy of NO to put remixes on singles instead of original songs.

The Trace Mix of Vanishing Point is absolute quality as is the Razormaid mix of 5-8-6.

IMHO both these mixes are actually 'better' than the originals as they both focus on the best bits of the song and extend them. Evil Dust is another example of how the original can be bettered.

The extended intro to the Love Vigilantes mix is very good as well. Another fine example of how a decent remix can enhance a song.

It is worth trawling through the crapper mixes because there are some real gems lurking out there.

Does anyone know where the Trace Mix of VP and the LV mix originate from? Were they on soundtracks?

Give me some funky ass bassline...

You'd have to cast doubt on Underworld remixing without Emerson wouldn't you?

I'd love to see Kruder & Dorfmeister get their hands on one if a suitable tune comes up in the future.
