Old Leadfoot has been 'officially' confirmed as the drummer for Freebass. Hooky has said that they have almost completed five tracks in the studio. The line-up also includes Gary Briggs from Haven and Robert 'Throb' Young

Of course, we already know that Hooky, Mani and Andy Rourke are in the band.

Five tracks nearly finished? We can look forward to some live appearances from around June I would guess, maybe sooner.

Not sure about everyone else, but I've been looking forward to Freebass finally emerging and will be at any gigs I can make.

Anyone want to meet up before the gigs? :thumb:  :viking:

Given the amount I'll be swallowing when Freebass tour you wouldn't want to kiss me neither. In fact, even talking to me would probably guarantee you a faceful of love cream.

Am i the only person who thinks this is just gonna be self-indulgent bollocks? If it was any good would they need to be drafting in all these famous mates to do vocals?

You've gotta laugh though, cos doing guest vocals on something like this is right up Bernards street, he's probably the only one they've not asked!

just wait till you hear the 48 minute jazz oddesy that hooky came up with

it goes all the way up to 11:hat:

Should we get you a "congratulations on your new job" card or summat? (perhaps a symathy card would be more in order  ).

Three bassists and a drummer, hmmmmm perfection, now if yous can just keep guitarists away it'll rock.

If it DOES turn into self indulgent shite, at least it'll be bass driven shite, suit me sir, suit me.

I'm really looking forward to Freebass. I've always enjoyed Hookys side projects Revenge being my fav (sorry Paul) so i'll be at as many Freebass gigs as possible...

I'd like Revenge a whole lot more if the programming didn't stink so bad on a lot of tracks, not to mention that the electronics are very poorly recorded more often then not too.

Leadfoot - you going to join us for pre-gig meet ups then?

Martin - in that case, don't even breathe in my direction :eek3: :nono:

Cambo - You just HAD to start verging on the technical again, didn't you? :evil4: (I agree though...)

Steve - Yes you are. But you must be used to being lonely. Plod and all that...

Of course I'll be at Freebass meet-up/gigs - looking forward to it!

I just hope it isn't all just festivals, or at least if it is, then the festivals I'm planning on going to!

Nick - so far the only band who could persuade me to go to any of this year's festivals would be Freebass.

Well, a band that I follow quite regularly are doing a couple - luckily one of them's in Spain, so I get to go to Barcelona twice this year - this time, I'll actually go round the city during the non-festival times!

(For Summercase, however, I'll just get pissed as usual)! :p

Cheers lads. I'll keep the NOOL community updated when I know stuff - 'official' stuff anyway...

Which one of them are you gonna off to get the gig then Jack?

Actually, that Wombats clip had me thinking, I can't recall ever seein the old boy enjoying playing the thing quite so much. Makin a big noise and showing off for us plebs, yeah, but not actually just loving the notes that he's playing. Hope it bodes well for Freebass (or forbass if you get yer way).

Once you turn 18, you will be EXPECTED at the pre-gigs mate  We'd invite leady too, but his afternoons will be spent losing the will to live......"can you JUST play your snare for the 75th time please mate" :evil4: Only time I feel pity for skinbashers is during the soundcheck.

Is this one of these lads a singer then, so that these tracks are entirely 'complete'?

Last I heard they had 19 tracks written, but absolutely no vocals! :eek3:

Does everyone think Freebass are gonna be gigging that soon though? I mean, Hooky had CDRs of their stuff at his DJ sets nigh on 4 years ago ... and still no end product.

I'm not seeing a problem here, unless they have any guitarists of course.

Me neither... Guest vocalists are generally not a great idea IMHO...

I'm really looking forward to hearing their stuff. I've liked everything any member of New Order has been involved with so i'm expecting this to be the same.
