What's Bernard and Steve up to? I know they've supposedly been working with Alex James but do we have any update or news on how this is progressing? Is there anyone here that feels we have heard the last from Bernard Sumner? I, for one, certainly hope not!
We're hearing alot about Freebase, but

very well said , thats exactly what i am waiting for as well ,and i have been following new order/joy division since 1981. they deserve a lot more then to end up like this sorry state of affairs. spoken from someone who has seen them playing live 28 times. good question

I can't believe that they'd come with shit names like Freebase and Bad Lieutenant for their 'projects'. We seem to entering Spinal Tap territory.

Agreed. They're both terrible names.

If three bass players isn't Spinal Tap territory I don't know what is.![]()
Given that Hooky plays 'high up' and the other two don't really, can we at least expect an octaved sound overall?
Bad Lieutenant: methinks they are keeping their powder dry by not leaking anything and the thing will explode upon an unsuspecting public in the spring...
Five Live: crackly medium wave sport-and-news radio station for those outside the UK. They should stick to sport and news and not stoop to dissing the Order! As for their live gigs, it's punk rock, mate! One of the reasons we love is for their fallability...especially live!
Let's face it, NO were always capable of being both sublime and ridiculous in equal measures, so the chances are BL and Freebass will have their moments, both genius and otherwise... The side projects have always been a bit hit and miss, but the finest moments for me are up there with NO quality-wise, and there's a fair few other tracks which are certainly sub-NO that still kick the crap out of a lot of other bands around at the time or currently... I'll buy the albums, go and seem 'em live and probably end up with a handful of tracks that can thrill me the same way that, say, Forbidden City still does, even though I don't care for or listen to the rest of RTP much... ![]()

Yeah these days, nobody would really care about that kind of stuff. Generational factor, suppose.
