Technique Remastered: What would you want on the bonus disc?

This is an idea to start speculating on what you would want on an eventual Technique Remastered BONUS CD.

IN NO WAY THIS MEAN THIS PROJECT EXISTS, it's just for fun, and so we can eventually send the list to the labels so they would consider it, maybe.

But just maybe.

So, TECHNIQUE 1989... what the hell would you want on a BONUS CD? rare tracks? live gig... what?

Don't Do It, Best & Marsh. Live tracks etc...

It would have to be a DVD of the best of the onstage loonery that accompanied this release. Full-bore Joe Bloggs rave gear, E gurning band and audience, dad-dancing to die for and confused TV presenters.

Good-quality footage appears of all of this prankery; it was mixed in to a lot of the promos from the singles so let's see the full beautiful horror of it all!

And the Run remixes

Anything but MTO probably.

I'd want some pictures of live show setups from this era, as they aren't as common.

I'm pretty sure the masters for those no longer exist post John Denver.

Skipped Brotherhood, didn't you?

Anyway, b-sides from that era will do, and the Making Out mix of Vanishing Point. Would be lovely to hear what Gillian's original demo of Dream Attack was like as well.

Actually I didn't.... Brotherhood has been done, and I'm pretty sure I did Substance... I'd need to dig them up.

The demos aren't out and about, you mean those unfinished studio rehearsals. There are a whole completed set of uncirculated demos for Technique:

Plus an unreleased version of 'Don't Do It':

And some work in progress versions of 'Vanishing Point':

Not to mention the 'other' version of 'Vanishing Point' with totally different lyrics and vocals (lyrics available on this site somewhere).

Either Birmingham NEC or Glasgow SECC concerts as I think these are great.

Reading 89 was better than either of those.

This was the album that got me into New Order, I still love this album after all these years. So I'd love to hear anything from this era that I haven't already.

all of the b-sides, some selected remixes, and a few choice live cuts from the '89 tour would be welcome.

Ooh, ooh, I've actually got a copy of that on CD. The story was (and don't tell anyone 'cos I used to be a copper, and my "source" is still a copper) my mate's mate is a decorator who did Barney's house in '88/'89, and he nicked a copy of the demo tape they did in Ibiza. It's a bit sketchy, but well worth a listen if you're a bit of an anorack like me.

(By the way, statute of limitations on theft means that no one can be prosecuted for this now. So, ner! ):hat:

As I said on the Vanishing Point v Mr Disco thread, I would like to hear someone record a 3-minute mix and a 8-minute mix of Vanishing Point. I believe it is possible to record a radio edit of this song, but I don't have the software at the moment to attempt to do so myself.

Also, are you gentlemen aware that there was an extra 12" single of Round & Round featuring two Kevin Saunderson 'Detroit' remixes and Best & Marsh?

There already is a radio edit of Vanishing Point, done by Chris Lord-Alge back in 89 and unreleased.

I think Fine Line wasn't mentioned before?!

It was on the Fine Time 12 inch vynil.

Furthermore I'd like to have all of the other official Fine Time remixes (3!?), the b-side Don't Do It and ofcourse the official Round & Round remixes (5!?) the b-side Best & Marsh in 7 inch & 12 inch version. Vanishing Point Instrumental Making Out Mix.

Maybe I'm asking too much if I want the complete Run 2 EP, but I think indeed the masters of that one no longer exist. If it still exist, I want Run2 & Run2 (Extended Version) [FUCK JOHN DENVER!!! He's dead by now for 10 years!!!], MTO & MTO (Minus Mix). To make ends meet: The Happy One

If there's space left on the bonus disc (which I think is maybe the case), then fill it in with the 7 inch versions of Fine Time & Round & Round, but it's not very necessary because we have these 2 songs already on some compilations.

Ofcourse London Records must go for the master tapes and do NO VYNIL RIPS like other labels so often do!

Of course the masters still exist for Run2, no reason not. All that happens with either Run or Run2 is that John Denver gets a writing credit.

My suggested Bonus disc is as follows ;

  1. Fine Time (Messed Around Mix)
  2. Round & Round (Kevin Saunderson Remix)
  3. Round & Round (Ben Grosse Remix)
  4. Run (Extended Mix)
  5. Mr disco (Chicken in a Basket Mix!!!!!)
  6. Vanishing Point (Making Out Instrumental)
  7. MTO (Minus Remix)
  8. Fine Line
  9. Don't Do It
  10. The Happy One

The version of the Happy One that Hooky played on OSM was much better than the version on Excerpts.

A studio version of this would be fucking great.

Fine Time 12"version (FAC223/A1) is a little bit special. It and Album version/7"version are different.

imo, i think they should just try to include "EXCLUSIVE" or HARD TO FIND tracks, but i don't think it'll ever happen. so, what's the use in complaining. we can't always get what we want
