Did ALL the original FACTORY VIDEOS get packaged in the BLUE PLASTIC BOXES as opposed to the LONDON RECORDS PROMO VIDEOS which are in WHITE CARDBOARD boxes.I have never seen this mentioned but as the only TWO originals i have from FACTORY are in these, and i was told this at the time of purchasing early 90s i would like it confirming.Thanks.. RM the single only ones that is..

Many of the original Factory promos that were duped by some editing house near Manchester came in either white plastic video boxes or white card slip cases - the "Fine Time" promo video came in a full colour sleeve identical to the 12" single release.

There were some official in-store promos that came in white card sleeves which also had a photocopied Factory labels with the track details - there are several different versions of these depending on which territory the video was released in.

Factory Australasia produced a few interesesting items including the defunct Joy Division "Substance" video which was promptly withdrawn. This included the "Love Will..." video with the original live sound which - surprisingly enough - is remarkably good. This should really have been released properly imo.

The "Pineapple Face" promo vid (UK) also got a piccy sleeve as well (same as 12" single).

One vid I recently purchased was Joy Division's "Transmission" (FAC400) in amongst several Electronic/New Order/Happy Mondays promo vids on e-bay... Presumably this was meant to be a promo for "Substance"?

l8rs,

FAC400 is a bit different, in that it was allocated to two separate items. There was a video given away free with the Palatine box set (but only if you bought it from a UK HMV Shop):

and it was also allocated to a video of Joy Division performing Transmission on Something Else that was sent out to TV stations, also to promote Palatine I would guess.

Both must be fairly rare by now.

Mark Eastwood of "Record Peddler" fame had a box of about 1000 empty blue video boxes that he sold most of his stuff in - bootleg or otherwise. The colour of the box is totally irrelevant though - as long as the title stickers are accurate then you have a complete original (discounting any sleeve that MAY have come with the video of course).

No stickers ...so i guess GENUINE FAKES although i only purchased 2 of these from him.My other PROMOS may be of less value BUT MORE genuine as they have stickers on. These were purchased a long time ago and i WAS very wary of other RARE stuff that started appearing around MANCHESTER.The 12 inches of NEW ORDER i have is only 8 inches long. :) Cheers for the answers though ,it is good to know,at least i bought them with fake £20 notes....sorry!
