I just got the DVD of the Mrs Merton Show, it's great to see Hooky and the boys obviously just taking the piss.

Who was in the line up?, I'm sure Old Lead Foot was in there, but think it must be pre Pottsy and post most of Revenge.

Anyone know if there was a 'Baz Barratt' involved in this?

I've recently just heard from a bird I'd not heard from in 20+ years and she asked if I still liked New Order and said she was mates with some lad involved in Hooky & The Boys. Baz Barratt apparently. Can't say I'd ever heard the name before. Anyone else know?

That's "Under the Stars" with different lyrics, isn't it?

Whilst we're at it, I 've been looking for a download of UTS for ages, anyone know where I can get one?

You can buy a CD of some of the interviews/songs (including several versions of the theme, "Simply The Best", etc), via Amazon here.

Paul, who's this Baz lad then?

A bird I used to know many moons ago claims to know him.

They were bleedin' married, less we not forget.

They split up, she started seeing another guy, who Hooky kicked in the stomach in a fracas. The guy not long after died of stomach cancer. Or something like that, and may I add those last two acts were not connected.

Basically, Mrs Merton was a comedy character created by Caroline Ahern. She hosted a spoof chat show, where each week she interviewed celebrities and took the piss massive style.

Classic question to Debbie McGee (who was married to bald, ugly, short magician Paul Daniels): "So Debbie, what made you marry the millionaire Paul Daniels?"

Just You Tube her, no doubt they'll be shedloads on there. Very funny.

Also, small world as it is, after the success of the Mrs Merton Show, Caroline wrote The Royle Family, a massive comedy sitcom in the UK in the late 90s. She starred in it, and playing her younger brother was Ralf Little, in his first role, who ended up playing the part of Hooky in 24HPP.

Spooky.

MRS MERTON "Are you married Dale?"

DALE WINTON (to knowing laughs in the audience) "erm...no"

MRS MERTON "Never mind Dale, your time will come. One day your ring will be on someone's finger..."
