keith hudson

I've been trying forever to get the original version of Turn the heater on by Keith Hudson. I think it was only ever released as a 7" single. It never seems to turn up on any Keith Hudson or Dub compilations and isn't on i-tunes. Any suggestions?

The album you're looking for is Torch of Freedom on Atra - released in 1975 or 1976.

I've been searching for this album and this particular song original for years, too! Actually that's what brought me to dub in the first place, I got several Keith Hudson's albums since then and none has this track.

I can only wonder why in the world New Order chose exactly this track off this album, among so many reggae releases.

Which member of the band brought this track to the table do you think?

It was one of Ian's favourites apparently. His love of dub is where they got the idea of using the melodica from.

I've always maintained that the dub version of "Turn The Heater On" a track by the name of "So Cold Without You" is pretty much a prototype for "In A Lonely Place".

The arrangement of New Order's "Turn the Heater On" reminds me of "Troubles" off Keith Hudson's album "Nuh Skin Up".
