It's been a while since I posted on here.....Just been living it up in the ny metro area....sort of. Working on my own music, How has everyone else been?
I feel strongly about the fact that New Order was better than Joy Division (I only say *was* since they are broken up as of now but I hope in the future that changes). Joy Division were great. I saw CONTROL, the Ian Curtis biopic. I have all of JDs albums. Real good stuff. I however prefer New Order. They were more light hearted. Ian was an incredibly depressed soul. He was also a genius....but I think in the long run JD, like Ian, would burn out unfortunately. Ian was having seizures during shows. He was on a lot of meds and was mentally unstable and emotionally wounded.
At first, when the remaining members plus Steven Morris's girlfriend decided to move on as "New Order"....The ghost of Ian lingered on and MoVeMeNt had some fantastic moments. But in the end, New Order did what they had to do. They sought joy in pain and decided instead of being too serious, just focusing on molding the perfect blend of guitar, guitar-ish bass, drums, and keyboards/synthesizers/electronics to make an ingenious catchy, moody, sometimes ambient, always enjoyable vibe. They made us dance, they made us laugh, and they fought like they hated each others guts at times, particularly a certain Bernie and Pete.
Still New Orders music does something to me that Joy Divisions never did. It makes me happy. It makes me hopeful. It's different, yet very appealing at the same time. And it blends just the right amount of dark and light......where JD at times was a tad too much on the depressed side.....especially if you are already kind of depressed. New Order's music helps you kind of escape your problems, and I like that about them.
I know somebody out there in New Order Online World is with me........
