Well, some of 'em were in tiny venues, but I was right down the front in the crush at Finsbury 87 and took some snaps of me own and the band might as well be in another postcode, they're so bloody small. Sooo, despite his claims to the contrary, Darren obvs had a decent zoom for this one. Er, unless he got on stage somehow?
FUCKIN GREAT SEEING THE PICS OF 'FINSBURY GIG' THE MONDAYS LOOK HOW I FELT...'FUCKED' A CRAZEE DAY ALL ROUND, NEARLY GOT KILLED IN THE CRUSH MIND YOU.
Nice picture of Jez from ACR looking almost Barney-esque.
Al, I have some quality photos from Barrowlands circa '86. If I sent them to you could you put them up on the web?
They are real classic era, bundeswehr vest etc.
Ah the good ol' days! By the way, those pictures prove my old theory: Hooky only had TWO t-shirts in his wardrobe in the 80's!
great memories....was amongst the crowd at malvern and finsbury.....malvern one of the best if you dont believe me check the list of songs from the gig guide....finsbury was soooo dangerously packed!!!
note...if you look at barney on the mavern pics he is wearing a "tour t-shirt" from that mini tour they did...b-ham,malvern,london and a couple more....has anyone got one of those t-shirts????just curious cause they were very difficult to get hold of..

I had one from the T&C gig. Even wore it as late as Reading 89, but for some reason, I'd ripped the sleeves off by that point (f'knows why, looking back)...
Indeed, Finsbury 87 was bedlam when compared with the recent shenanigans. Don't think I've ever known a gig so bad. Can remember ACR opening (with "Sounds Like Something Dirty", I think?) and was at the back of the crush for that and still a bloody mile from the stage..

I know someone who has ;)
i have been thinking about that crush you have mentioned at finsbree...it was the worst i ever experienced...if i remember they kicked off with touched which started a mini surge but then blasted out "love vigilantes" and the lets all get crushed to death "face up"...it was fookin madness..
Yeah, Face Up was always a wild one as I recall though it was also mental for Age of Consent.
Just think what it could've been like if they had played either Ceremony or Temptation that night.

One question about the Malvern Pics. You say it's 1986. I don't think Hook looked this way then, and the first time I saw him with this bass was around Republic??? Dirk

Can't comment on the bass, but around Republic Hooky sported v.long hair - check out the Dublin 93 pics. Actually, he started growing his hair long from about 88 onwards.
Defo looked like this in 86. That ridiculous slicked-back look (often accompanied by shirt & tie). Think he was itching for a backing part in a Robert Palmer video.
great pictures. memories from Finsbury June 87. Order were awesome, desperate in my attempt to stall my wife Dionne who had consumed 1/2 a bottle of Thunderbirds neat! (the things you do when you're 21!) and then proceeded to regurgitate the aformentioned liquor over yours truly! and that crush? for the first time my arse went completely as this was more than just a case of party fears 2! Hooky offering Seven Sisters out "read my fookin lips, move back" after Vigilantes, complete and utter chaos. + The Railway Children earlier played an epic "Brighter". happy days.
