Not sure. I know the guy who owns it. He used to run loads of house nights around Manchester and Bolton. I'm sure he was probably involved in the Hacienda scene and it is on the next road, so it could be a nod to the Hac.

Erm...I thought he meant Area 51 (the Manchester club) when I read the title too!!

never heard of a club in mcr called area 51 so yes, I was referring to the desert. Given that I said Bart Simpson was there I'm a bit concerned Jem assumed mcr.

the only link I can think of is they both cost a f*cking fortune, and I'm sure area 51 will have some yellow and black striped posts somewhere.
area 51 is surely responsible for more deaths, but no one tries to close it down!

cost a fortune!!!! nude night used to be a quid to get in and pound a pint...cheapest friday night out in manchester....of course that was in the pre 'hippest place on earth' days which by then we had all moved to dry (hehe)...........

i was meaning from a management point of view, not the customer, I wonder if area 51 has a decent bar?
