Does Peter Hook use an effect to make the bass sound like guitar?

I was listening to an instrumental demo of dream attack and the bass was up front and low end...I know he plays high end notes but sometimes it just sounds too much like guitar! The ending of Fine Time for example.....does he use some attachment that alters the pitch or something? Anyone know?

He uses an Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory chorus. Mani also recently got him on to using a bass pod, his latest rig being from Warwick: four W-115Nds and two Tubepath 5.1s for a "crunchy but sustain rich sound". He also uses 'Elite Strings' from the Bass Centre. "My gauge is really weird. I use 105,85,65,60".

Thats basically an extract from an old cut out from NME

here's a little blurb on Hooky's tricks from today's Guardian

Peter Hook uses chords and the upper end of the instrument to create a counter-melody, as in New Order's Round and Round, often leaving the function of the bass to the synths.

Wow I didn't know Hook played actual bass chords! He's probably a lot more technical than we all give him credit for.
