Rob Gretton Notebooks to be published

I ain't seen this mentioned before..

Cerysmatic have reproduced an interview with Malcolm Whitehead who talks about his contribution to the JD DVD. Towards the bottom he says:

"Joy Division worked very hard. As did Rob Gretton: his notebooks - which will be published in a book soon - are quite extraordinary for the way that Rob envisioned the band's career and the level of detail that he put into the day-to-day running of the operation."

Those bits of Rob Gretton's notebooks in the extras section of the Joy Division documentary DVD are great. Publishing them would be especially cool for fans to see, but it strikes me as mining the grave. I'll probably want to see the notes anyway.

Peter Saville's quote in the documentary is entirely right. Joy Division is those two albums, Unknown Pleasures and Closer. Everything else is pure marketing.

If you look carefully, you'll find out which JD song was previously called "Moderation"

and if choices had have been different, you could have heard

"Temptation" by Fifth Column

"Blue Monday" by Arab Legion

or even "World In Motion" by EnglandRadicalJesuits

Wow - awesome link. Here's one I've wondered about - confirmation that Ian/Bernard had both a Vox Phantom and Vox Teardrop guitar. I always thought everyone was mistakenly calling the LWTUA guitar the Teardrop.

I know I'm a fooking vulture but bring it on...as said above, same with the gig tapes and to hell with Barney's precious attitude towards their live history.

I feel the same way too about the marketing and stuff but I can't help it...the more I read the more I want more!!

Well they were mistaken if they called the LWTUA guitar the Teardrop. Despite evidence that they had both I have never seen a pic of the Teardrop used on anything at all. Anyone remember it used live?
