I find it funny how Liam always brings up his credentials by having a few friends that frequent these boards... just because yer friends with some respectable people, doesn't make you respectable... but then again, who that frequents these boards is really that respectable?
and I'm jealous of No Hol now... the bottom most hated individual on Liam's list used to be me... now where do we stand Liam? I just can't believe it...

It's about adapting and mellowing, which have you done. I always find it interesting how some US gentlemens opinions change after exposure to the wrath of a few mad Brits. Partly, due to a dawning realisation perhaps, that there is a whole world out there, and also cos they actually start agreeing with some of the crap we come out with.
Understanding the humour is a great first step, which Edelbrock is doing fine with. No Holiday is still in caveman territory on that front, and seeming like an incurable.
As for being respectable, Liam isn't, I deffo ain't. Can't think of anyone who is. Why would we be on this thread?
EDIT: Rocket Mick is hugely respectable. In fact, he's an icon.

No matter how successful they were, as someone posted here earlier they do not have a large devoted following like Depeche Mode (just look at the sales of the last album), and it's unfortunate because New Order pioneered "ALTERNATIVE DANCE"- What band was mixing disco grooves with indie post punk sensibility besides NO in 1982?, yet New Order will never reach the status of JD...After all, there's no Peter Hook biopic made, is there?
For a band that has been so groundbreaking, commercially successful, and innovative, it is really a shame to realize that their legacy will never be as great as their previous incarnation, although i'd take a New Order album over a Joy Division record any day of the week. Ian's story touched people so much that in retrospect, it still overshadows everything this amazing group acheived on its own.....sad really.

Its all true if fairly common knowledge. I have yet to hear any artist use the New Order formula and develop it convincingly. Also a good deal of NO's dancier songs borrowed a lot from Euro and Italian disco. You can hear whole basslines and leads that have been lifted from the likes of Gazebo and Savage.

Havent read a number of his posts I have never really understood the contempt surrounding 'No Holiday' or indeed for the majority of the americans. They are one of a growing minority that actually wants to talk about music. How did this forum change in such a short space of time from being one of the best NO related sites on the net to becoming a soviet of boorish, beery mondeo men? The English here are the worst for this IMO.

Good points. As I pointed out earlier, this post was meant to be about New Order.....That's all I wanted to talk about. Them and what stood them apart and what stood in their way of iconic status (Joy Division). If some guy from Spain comes on and makes a post which is not only irrelevant, but meant to put me down, I will give him what he deserves. And for the record I don't give a fuck about whose kids you were around or who you are friends with. And I love how you and some other people are making a big deal about me joking around with you that you have child porn open on another site....Your reactions are almost as if Liam really is a pedophile and i'm being prejudiced against his lifestyle in some way! New Order has a huge gay following in the USA? I bet if you went to the average "mainstream gay" guy they would barely even know who New Order was. I remember years ago, New Order was thought of as sort of like a less cool imitation of Depeche Mode among the shallow facade group. Of course people who have more than an average mainstream interest in music, or a DJ's interest, whether straight or gay, would be more likely to know who New Order is.
