I don't think it's worth importing to the uk, it's around the top price for that model now, worth it in the states though.

Keep a look out, they do crop up every now and then in the UK, I could do with another, mines started making a high pitched whine, relating to the depth controller i think.

Nothing else sounds like them, get saving your pennies.

they crop up every couple of months, this year I've seen about 5 so far, one of which I won, if you can find the model with the "edge" switch, that is apparently better, but mine (the same as is on the link) sounds as close to hooky without buying a yamaha bb1200s, putting elite stadium strings on it and getting hooky round to play it!

if you go for it, good luck, but you'll pay over the odds when you factor in the P&P.

try saving a bit of cash for some rice too, you can feed an entire continent with a bowl of it!

You can buy new ones, which are a lot cheaper (according to an article I read). Are they as good?

Jed, I went to see Riverdance last weekend. It was very low tide, so we did see what's left and also the banana boat that's been there for an undred years. Really top day out with Littleinoil - got some quality photos.

The new ones are just as good, dareisay, better built...

I spotted in Rob Gretton's notes that they paid £2 for Hooky's.....bargain :thumb:

You're the only person I've ever heard say the new ones are good, I've never heard one myself, but never heard anything good about them till now.

£2 is an absolute bargain, but you could buy an empty warehouse in manchester and turn it into a night club for that much back then.

If you have the brass and want to go the whole hog there's a 1979 BB1200 on there now. Buy it now for £545.

That's very nice, but it's not the same a hooky's, I don't know if Hooky's has been modded, but it has more controls, I think it's an active bass, where as the one on ebay isn't.

You could save up another £3,000.00 and get the Eccleshall, don't forget, the flight case is included, so it's a bargain!

If you buy the Clone from the U.S. you're going to need a step down transformer as they run on 110 volts.... better to hang on till you find one that was built for the uk.

The clone theory re:issue is alright, not a patch on the original though.

It's a BB 1200. Hooky used one in Joy division and early New Order before he got the BB1200s

I wasn't aware of that, it makes sense, I suppose the 1200 got nicked with the rest of the gear in the states.

You really do know your stuff.
