NEW ORDER RE-RELEASES UPDATE! This is a very difficult one , we are aware of the problems and because we did not have finished product to listen to? It has, shall we say……. slipped through the net?? My great friend claude flowers has taken it on himself to sort this mess out personally, but please be aware , that after the fact it is going to be very difficult, unfortunately because many of you have purchased them already ( a great compliment in itself) we are doing all we can to try and get fresh masters made and available , somehow ? to try and remedy the situation, so please bear with us. I have said before how difficult it is compiling this stuff, the masters steve and I listened to, were all basically from people's collections, so it was then left to someone? In the library department to compile, as much as possible from original masters, this is where it seems to have gone wrong , unfortunately it is industry standard these days to not have production masters of the cd's or the sleeves, much to pete saville's amazement, but that's just the way it is , hopefully they might resurrect the process after this. Here's hoping, hooky.

It seems that almost all of the people over there gave a positive reaction about the remasters and don't know what we're talkin' about! How the heck can that happen?! Did those people listen carefully?! I mean: you don't have to listen carefully with all of them!

Ok, so there are all the problems in the world that make really difficult to release a quality product. But were these problems not there in the JD reissues? Why in New Order case the story is so different?
I am sorry but I have all the right to think that in JD case everybody (label, band, etc) was interested in putting out something good and for New Order everybody (label, band, etc) simply doesn't give fcuk.
Good to hear that somebody (particularly ex-member hooky) is trying to do something about these reissues.

It's always bugged the fuck out of me: the utter worship for JD's by the band/label vs. the half-assed treatment of NO's output. Be it boxsets, best-ofs and now reissues. Do they really just think JD's that much better and their stuff is worth white glove treatment while NO's isn't.
On another note, has anybody here who have posited potential remaster projects contacted the band (and I guess I mean Hooky) about possibly helping out? I've listened to several tracks remastered from vinyl by various posters here, and while I haven't heard the remasters yet, it seems that the tracks I've heard by posters here would certainly merit release given the comments over the existing releases. Of course, anyone can do what they want, but it seems to me that if people are going to do this anyway, then maybe the results could somehow get to the band and eventually the fans themselves. Hell, they might even pay you for it if it made this headache go away.

I agree.
Joy Division were a higly individualistic post punk rock band who had an interesting lead snger who wrote great lyrics. They had a handful of great songs.
New Order were a musically brilliant band that broke genre boundaries, made innovations with technology, brought punk, rockc, and electronica together in a way that no one else did, and changed the face of modern music.
New Order were far more innovative and interesting than Joy Division, and in my opinion the superior form of the group.
I really think that Joy Division are deified because
The Cult of Celebrity and ensuing myth that has built up around Ian Curtis. Similar to what happened with Jim Morrison and the Doors.
Joy Division were a guitar driven band, therefore more palatable to traditional rock and roll tastes than New Order.
Pisses me off, really. I was looking forward to New Order getting thier due with these reissues.

Well done Peter Hook for once again speaking up for the fans, I haven;t bough tthe remasters yet but think I will shell out at some stage for Movement and Technique. You can;t beat the vinyl versions anyway.

I think it's great that he's *trying* to remedy the situation. So be it if there will be another set as long as it's good because that's what we're looking for right? I haven't bought anything yet and I hope that they will correct the remasters before they release them in North America.
