Well, since the only person that can ban anybody is on vacation, it might be a few days...
but we have already discussed it...a little bit...
in the mean time, if you find it "THAT" offensive, you could always turn the display of avys off until Nicos gets back....

In the UK, we call those ugly below-the-waist-pouches 'vaginas'. Only very vaguely prettier than the male equivalent - the 'last-turkey-in-the-shop' look.
They both have a function but aren't in the least bit attractive.
It's childish and very unnecessary.
I bet it's Russell Brand or Jonathan Ross.

The use of the word "fanny" got John McEnroe in a bit of trouble, all he said was wibledon could do with more fannys on seats, the brit co presenters nearly choked, I love the fact that some words have different meaning, but we both still call it english.
as for the avatar picture, it doesn't offend me, but I understand that it would others and is therefore unacceptable.
again, the only person capable of banning is Nic and he's on vacation. a private message has been sent to this user asking him to remove his avatar picture. unfortunately we moderators can't do much more than this right now

I've never seen any avatars, have them switched off as a matter of course as they delay pages loading. That said, if there's an offensive one up at the moment then it should be removed, we've a few precedents after all.

However, this place is being bandied around as the 'Official' site and as such, reflects pretty poorly on the band and their associated projects nowadays, not to mention the members here - whether that's tacky or 'adult' avatars or the infantile bickering and gratuitous pursuit of personal insults in the forum pages.
I really think a 'clean up' is desperately needed if this site is to retain any credibility.

Well, maybe. But given that the band themselves have descended into infantile & petty bickering (actually, it's more like a career-long project!) it seems almost apt.
And, from what I've read on here, the recent reissues really needed a "clean up" in places of they were to retain any credibility.

you could be right if only this was not forbidden in the forum rules. entering this site and posting means you agree with those terms. you have the right not to agree with them but the webmaster has the right to ban you if you don't follow. simple as that.

I'm not prudish by any means, and I'm sure most of us on these boards aren't offended by nudity per se. But, this is a New Order-related site, and like Chris mentioned, not a porn site. Most of the music-related message boards I go on to, would probably have a member banned or at least warned or something if they had a pornographic (or seemingly pornographic) avatar. I'm not calling certain body parts pornographic in itself---just most of us think it's inappropriate to have such a picture (PS- I've never seen the avatar in question...but still...) as an avatar here. And I'm sure most (maybe all?) of the moderators would agree. It's not a question of being prudish, though---just whether it's appropriate for these boards or not. And it seems that many of us agree that it's not appropriate for these boards.
Yeah, I saw it. I was sat at work on a bank of desks that contains 2 middle aged women with the bosses desks to the rear. I nearly fucking choked on my cup-a-soup. Entirely unexpected and quite unwelcome. But when you take a step back it was a lighter, gentler time back then. We'll never get those days back.
I'm no prude and am certainly not offended by porn, but there's a time and a place. I certainly don't want to be faced with it when I'm at work, with family or in a queasy mood.

Everything you've posted in this thread is incorrect:

I'd come in from a club absolutely off my tits when I first saw it. It was one of those moments when you can't quite make sense of anything. Because I was confused about the picture I got confused about loads of other things. I spent ages trying to turn the mirror above the fireplace on then gave up and got into the spare bed. well, that is a discussion we must have once Nic gets back. right now Mods are capable of editing and moving threads mostly. but not in all forums, for ex i moderate the Spanish and Portuguese Forums, Digital Repuiblic and Community, but can't move a finger in -say- Music For Pleasure. and we can´t ban either, just Nic. we can warn but not much more than that.

That is YOUR interpretation - obviously Bernard Sumner does not see it that way. However a rather offensive 'fanny' does not have different interpretations. I am no prude but us Brits do have some levels of decorum
Not exactly the kind of thing you want popping up unannounced on your PC with wife and kids around or at work. It has seriously affected the frequency that I come on here as I don't want that hassle.
