Hello Everyone,
We wanted to let New Order fans know that you can enter a contest to win a signed bass from Peter Hook in celebration of the new reissues from Rhino!

Not trying to spam the board....just making sure the fans that would want to know/win have the info. : )
Nice idea and I suppose anyone who hasn't already met Hooky and got stuff signed will be interested in entering.

Never mind the signed fish... Has Rhino bothered to defuck the defective reissues prior to release? And don't say we didn't warn you.

He was photographed with one on the cover of Bass Player magazine (apparently it was done in the States so he didn't have any of his basses with him).
Someone probably found the picture and said well this is what Hooky plays and plus it's cheap let's use this for the contest. I believe he does have a gibson EBO bass that this is a copy of in his arsenal but it is an odd choice nonetheless. They went for "cheap".

Really!? I guess it's not surprising that he hasn't taken possession of it yet.
The article (date?) from this year that talks about it had an interview with Chris Eccleshall, and even he mentioned that he is painstakingly slow with making one!
Should be a real bee-yoot, though! _
I started to try to finally learn to play bass mainly because of Hooky. So I had opted for a hollowbody, Oscar Schmidt OB-20 Delta King Bass for help my patience in learning.
I'm still 'toes' while playing most of the time.
Can't imagine ever having an Eccleshall. It'd be too daunting!

that's a nice looking bass, how does it sound? not enough frets for me though, I like getting right up on the 24th fret.
Have you got any examples of your playing? hooky is a great bassist to emulate, if you don't want to sound like 99.9% of bassists! which obviously i don't.
good luck learning, and get yourself a chorus pedal, preferably a clone theory, but even a boss super chorus will get you half way there.

No; I don't have any examples yet - but right now it's kinda in the PH, Simon Gallup, Martin Gore-esque type melodies. Even though Martin, up til recently, has played only guitar. I'm trying to work 'em into the songs at song point, somehow.

I've been drumming for 34 of my (nearly) 37 years. Keyboards have been the 'recent' addition from 10 years back. _
Right now, I'm using a laptop using NI's Guitar Rig 2 and Amplitube 2 for the my 'bass' sounds - even though they are for the guitar.
The bass sounds... um, smoky and slightly round, I suppose? Dunno how to describe it; Sorry!
Before struggling to get back on topic, what's your bass? _
It's cool that Peter had some personal involvement to try to 'right' a tough situation.
I'd like to see someone win the contest from here, though.
you should be able to get a decent enough sound from guitar rig, I think the doc uses that, thinking back to a very old posting.
My bass is a pretty cheap yamahe rbx374, going through line 6 bass pod live and clone theory, then to cubase through emu 1820m, fairly clean other than a wavering little squeel from the clone, but it's not noticeable when playing, and i mute the track when it's not playing so not a problem.
Like the tracks on your mysapces, a bit of an oasis influence i think on "i aint keen on that" nice stuff.
A Yamaha BB614 would make more sense for the contest (it's the closest bass in production to anything Hooky plays).

that's a nice bass, but as Kerry pointed out, I think they just went for the cheap option.
The eccleshall is still in production, just takes a long time to make and is very expensive! lovely though, what can i sell to get one.
